CORAL GABLES - COUNTRY CLUBBER

By GORDON TAYLOR The official welcoming committee for Ike Mady reads like a Who's Who in the Country Club: President Phil Laurence, Executive Committee Chairman Bill Gray, Tennis Committee Chairman Horace Cordes, Director Ben Turner, Buzz Bismark and George Corrigan. The club has lost a fine sportsman in George Gaudet and gained a fine sportsman in Ike Mady. Considerable attention will be shown in tennis and it is hoped that many more members will avail themselves of the privilege of playing on our six new courts. Young Hopeful It is fascinating to observe the development of junior members, especially as serious a golfer as ten-year-old Danny Vollmer. I am told that Danny has broken 50. His father, Dr. Leo Vollmer, is determined that Danny be equipped with all the social assets: Golf, tennis, swimming, bridge, and dancing. The club feels that way about all their junior members, Leo. Serious Play Great plans are being formulated by the theater group. Their next efforts will lean toward a serious type of play that will call on considerable more of our member talent. The organization of the theatre group itself in relation to the Country Club has proven sound and worthwhile. It is a little too soon to announce the schedule for the last week in September, but you may be sure there will be enough activity to please everyone from the ages of two to 200. The entire week will, in effect, launch our winter social program. So be on the alert for your official notification. Send Regards Champ Bridge players Engie and Leo Brown sent regards to "Trump-your-partner's-ACE" Taylor from the Country Club at Rochester, Minn. She wants to know what the Bridge players are doing and she will be told that the last report from Mrs. Eigie was favorable. In fact, optimistic. Speaking of the Bridge group, the winners of the Duplicate Bridge Thursday, September 4th were Mrs. K. Diestelhorst and Mary Hadsdan. The winners of the Contract group Friday, September 5th were Mrs. Wilma Smith and Mrs. Warren Lipsey. Honeymooners Honeymooners Taffy and Dick Branhan did a bit of bragging on a postal from Highland, North Carolina. Princess Nina Caracciola writes that she will be at the club October 2nd to start afternoon classes in ballet. Bill Gorman announces a Blind Bogey Tournament for you golfers this coming Wednesday, with an extra prize for the tee shot closest to the pin on the 7th hole. He is also planning a light buffet afterwards on the golf house veranda. These returning vacationers who reek of forest pine, of city soot, can't look down their noses any longer. My telephone number for two weeks will be: 0-0000. See you later!!
