Short-Circuiting Lamp Triggers Burglar Alarm

Mrs. Maria de Shanan, of 6901 Granada Blvd., thought she heard a burglar early Saturday morning and called Coral Gables police. When Officers William Just and Macon Hazen got there, she tossed them the keys from a second story window so they could get in without breaking in. Just and Hazen failed to find any burglar, but they found something as dangerous — a lamp had shorted and was sputtering and popping.
