High Risers Will Get Hearings

Public hearings on two proposed high rise buildings have been set for June 13 before the Coral Gables City Commission. One is for a seven-story dormitory at the University of Miami Main Campus, the other for a four story apartment at Sunrise Harbour. The UM dormitory would be a twin to the 720 Building on Miller Drive near Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Emil Gould's Sunrise Harbour high rise would be a four-story building next to the boat launching on Edgewater Drive. This is a four-lot area in Block Two. Some 53 apartments are planned there.

.45 Meets Shotgun; No Charges Pressed

A "gunfight" ended in a draw last week when the parties involved declined to press charges against one another. The incident resulted when Betty Boyle of 325 Maderia Ave., came out of her apartment at 10 p.m. to find Paul R. Snay, 1857 SW Fourth St., and Garry Jackson, no known address, sitting on her car hood, according to Gables police. Miss Boyle told the youths to get off, but they refused. She told her date, Robert L. Wilson, who was waiting nearby in a car and Wilson emerged wielding a .45 caliber automatic. He ordered the youths off the car. They got off. But when Wilson and Miss Boyle returned shortly before 1 a.m. Snay and an unidentified man were waiting. The unknown man thrust a shotgun at Wilson, ordered him out of the car, struck him several times in the ribs with the weapon and took the automatic. Miss Boyle ran into her apartment to call the police, but she saw Snay and his friend leave before she could call. Wilson and Miss Boyle then went to the police station to report the incident. Snay later told police that the shotgun had been thrown into the Miami River at the 17th Ave. Bridge. He refused to identify the unknown man. Neither party wanted to press charges and police dropped the whole thing.

It's Still Hers

If there has been any doubt, we do hereby restore to its rightful ownership the Miss Koma Beauty Salon on Merrick Way. A feature story in last week's Times inadvertently left the impression that the salon might no longer be owned by Miss Koma. It's still hers.
