IT'S BRYN MAWR COLLEGE Maxine Finds Her 'Heart's Desire'

MAXINE Heart's desire has come true for Maxine Master, graduating senior at Coral Gables High School. She will enter Bryn Mawr, college in the fall where she has won a $1,000 scholarship. Her first interest has been music. She began piano lessons before she started to school. In addition, she is an accomplished violinist, organist and studies voice. She is a member of the school orchestra and spends on the average of nine hours every week in church music work. She accompanies two choirs, sings in a third one and plays the piano for her Sunday School department and for the Senior Westminister Fellowship on Sunday evenings. In her sophomore year, she studied biology, because of her interest in science. That year she studied physics by television and the following year she was chosen to work in the Marine Laboratory at the University of Miami. Maxine is an avid reader, prefers drama and poetry to prose. In addition to her music academic work, Maxine finds time for other pursuits. She held memberships in many school societies won many contests including being county, state and regional winner in the German contest (second year level). She was the county runnerup for the Silver Knight Award in foreign languages and was a National Merit Semi-finalist, National Honor Society Scholarship finalist. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell L. Master of 837 Madrid St. She wanted to attend one of the Eastern colleges. She turned down a $2,000 scholarship to Sophie Newcomb College because she had set her heart on one of two, Radcliffe or Bryn Mawr.
