Paul Andre Veep Mrs. Lucile Neher 'People' President

Mrs. Lucile Neher, former Coral Gables City commissioner and businesswoman, was elected president of the newly incorporated People to People Program June 15. Mrs. Neher takes over from Robert Kingsley, who served as president of People to People while it was an arm of the City Commission. Paul L. Andre, Gables insurance executive, was elected vice president. Mrs. Dorothy Hosken, University of Miami employe and student was re-elected secretary. W. Keith Wheeling, a Certified Public Accountant, was re-elected treasurer. And Esther Martin is the new historian. The original People to People group was organized in November 1958 after former President Dwight D. Eisenhower called upon American communities to setup cultural exchange programs. Cartagena, Colombia, was selected as the sister city. Recently the committee split on the issue of the loyalty oath, but eventually adopted in its by-laws a more comprehensive document than had been requested by the City Commission before it relinquished control to a private corporation. The new organization found itself in an awkward position of having founding members, including former mayor Fred B. Hartnett, not included among directors listed in the recently approved state charter nor as members. This situation was corrected by extending membership to all who attend last week's meeting. In effect, those present voted themselves in as directors. Membership will now be extended to the public. Honorary memerships are also provided. Any individual 21 years of age or more, of good moral character and who agrees to sign a loyalty oath and comply with the approval of the board of directors is eligible for membership. The annual fee is $10. Monthly meetings will be held the last Friday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the City Commission Room. The annual meeting will be held in the month of May. Five of the 25-member board of directors will be appointed by the City Commission later. Commissioners themselves sit on the board as honorary ex-officio members. Here is the list of new directors who will represent the various civic clubs in Coral Gables: Paul L. Andre, Lee Smith, Warren L. Blackmon, Dr. Ralph Boggs, Fred Hartnett, Larry Larimore, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fitzgerald, Mrs. Dorothy Hosken, Robert E. Kingsley, Joe Mantinan, Michael Monroe. Edwin Morris, Joe Morris, E. P. Russo, Dr. Richard E. Strain, Mrs. Grayce Wedemeyer, Miss Jeane Westerfield, W. Keith Wheeling Mrs. Mary Willard and Ira F. (Dutch) Willard. MRS. NEHER
