MRS. JOHN G. PERRY
Merrick Teacher Becomes Mrs. John G. Perry
Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands were destinations for the wedding trip of Mr. and Mrs. John Gerrard Perry who were married Friday at the University Baptist Church. The bride, the former Miss Barbara Joan Shearouse, of 530 Valencia Ave., is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Truman Shearouse, of Orlando. The groom is the son of Mrs. Charles Reid Perry Jr., of Winston-Salem, N.C., and the late Mr. Perry. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white silk organza and Chantilly lace made along princess lines with fitted bodice, and long point-at-hand sleeves. The full skirt of tiered silk organza and lace swept into a chapel train. Her bouffant butterfly veil of illusion fell from a chapeau of the organza. She carried a cascade bouquet of Phalaenopis orchids, centered with a white Cattleya orchid. Mrs. Lawton C. Brown, of Panama City, sister of the bride was matron of honor. The two sisters of the bride, Miss Jerri Lynn Shearouse, of Chicago, Ill., and Miss Jan Shearouse, of Orlando, were bridesmaid and junior bridesmaid respectively. They wore identical gowns of white silk organza made bouffant, with embroidered floral designs on skirt and bodice in shades of blue, and carried white iris and stephanotis. Charles Reid Perry III, brother of the groom, of Charlottesville, Va., was best man. Ushers were: Calvin Wyatt, of Clearwater, brother-in-law of the groom; Capt. Lawton G. Brown, of Panama City, brother-in-law of the bride, James Skinner, of Ft. Lauderdale and Frank Payne of Miami. Dr. T. Rupert Coleman, pastor of the church officiated at the 8 p.m. double ring ceremony, and the reception took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Simmons, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dauerheim, of 751 Davis Rd., Coral Gables. Mother of the bride wore a pink lace sheath dress, with matching accessories, and the mother of the groom was in blue chiffon. Both matrons wore white orchids. The bride is a graduate of Edgewater High School, Orlando and Florida State University, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She is a member of the faculty of the Merrick Demonstration School. The groom is a graduate of Reynolds High School, Winston-Salem, and of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C. JULY, 1961 GOOD NEWS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS The recent conference about problems of the aging disclosed that it is possible for most older folks to live happier, healthier, longer and even be physically active. "DO NOT LIVE A ROCKING CHAIR LIFE" "If you just sit and wait for death, you will not have to wait so long", said one prominent physician. "The results of such inactivity increases atrophy of the mind, which speeds up degenerative diseases." AVOID EXTREME STRESS Cut down on excessive physical efforts, but moderate exercise, some work and companionship are all helpful in maintaining good health and vitality. HEART DISEASE IS NOT INEVITABLE If the aging place themselves under the care of a physician and follow advice about diet, sustaining medicines and vitamins, "they need not be afraid of old age." WE INVITE SENIOR CITIZEN PATRONAGE By constantly reading about the newest treatments and needed medicines, we are able to immediately stock necessary medication and vitamins. If any prescription must be continuously taken, please inform us so we can co-operate on cost. FREE DELIVERY Sunset Drugs Corner Red Road & Sunset Dr. "A Complete Drug Store" Phone MO 7-7577
