They Plan to Reopen Old Campus Canteen Here

A pair of 21-year-old identical twins got a tentative okay Tuesday from the City Commission to take over the controversial Campus Canteen and convert it into a non-controversial bar and grill. They are William and Robert Ott, who will operate the college hangout if they can clear the final hurdles: Get the former owner Dale B. Billips to put up $250 escrow fine money to the city and obtain clearance from the FBI on all company officers. Billips has an appeal pending on a conviction in Municipal Court for illegally blocking off windows and doors. The two youths will operate the bar as the Varsity Inn. They said they spent $6,000 for improvements and plan a $60,000 improvement. Commissioner George Wilson voted against the transfer and Commissioner Joe Murphy abstained because of a possible conflict of interest.

Auditions

will be held at Studio M Playhouse Saturday between 10 a.m. and noon for children, teenagers and adults interested in a theatre workshop in Pied Piper Playhouse and Studio M productions.

Right Family But Wrong Hartnett

The Times inadvertently honored the wrong Hartnett in a story in last week's issue. William J. Hartnett was honored at a Riviera Country Club party recently along with George McKiever. Occasion was Coral Gables' double sweep of offices of the mutual insurance agents association. Hartnett is president of the state association and McKiever of the national. Hartnett is the son of Fred Hartnett, with whom he is associated in business. The story last week incorrectly identified the father as the honoree.
