UN Critic Cites Charter, Verse
By GERARD PUCCI Correspondent (Second in a series) There are many instances in which the Godless U.N. Charter violates our U.S. Constitution. In the next several articles I shall present only a few of them. I suggest that you obtain a copy of both documents to compare them in detail. By so doing, you will see how the enemies of freedom have rephrased and subverted every provision of our U.S. Constitution. The following is an analysis of one of the provisions of our U.S. Constitution and the violation thereof by the U.N. Charter: Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution states: "The Congress shall have power ... To declare war ... , To raise armies ... , to make rules for the government and regulation of the land and naval forces ..." The U.S. Constitution does not give the President, the State Department, or any other department of government, or any foreign nation or group of nations, or international council or committee, the power to commit the United States to war; nor to raise armies, nor to make rules for the government and regulation of our land, naval and air forces. Such power is vested exclusively in the Congress. This provision is violated by the U.N. Charter in Chapter VII, Article 42, which states: "The Security Council ... may take such action by air, sea, or land forces as may be necessary ... Such action may include demonstrations, blockade, and other operations by air, sea or land forces of members of the United Nations." United Nations Article 43, states: "All members of the United Nations ... under-take to make available to the Security Council, on its call ... armed forces, assistance, and facilities, including rights of passage ..." United Nations Article 46 states: "Plans for application of armed force shall be made by the Security Council with the Assistance of the Military Staff Committee." All of the above U.N. provisions violate the U.S. Constitution. And the man who is in charge of all the military might of the United Nations is, and always has been, a Russian Communist. The United Nations Military Chief is called the Under Secretary for Political and Security Council Affairs. They have been as follows: 1946-1949 Arkady S. Sobelev. 1950-1953 Konstantine Zenchenko. 1953-1957 Ilya Tchernyshev. 1957-1960 A. Dobrynin. 1960-1962 Georgy P. Arkadev. 1962- Eugeny D. Kiselv. Why have our present day leaders undone the painstaking efforts that our Founding Fathers put into our Constitution?

From Our Readers, Many Opinions
EDITOR: Now that we have momentary lull and can realize how narrowly we escaped the Third World War on the night of Oct. 27 we can think about ways to help Cuba instead of invading her. We can realize we have already invaded Cuba, not by military forces but by means of the U.S. corporations that have taken over Cuban land, Cuban resources, and Cuban people not for the purpose of helping her to the pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but to make money out of her for U.S. managers and U.S. stockholders. Light on this situation is shed by the Washington correspondent, Marquis Childs. He describes as myopic "the attitude of Americans who once owned large chunks of the Cuban economy and who expect to have those chunks restored to them." He declares: "The political spokesmen of these owners pressing for invasion did the President a deep disservice." Anyone who has ever been in Cuba outside of Havana and the hotels and casinos catering to gambling Americans has seen the poverty, poor housing and poor food evident in Cuban men, and more so in Cuban women and children, under the Batista and previous regimes which we backed. Do we want to see this poverty continue while U.S. sugar, fruit, and other commercial companies rush back to take advantage of this poverty? Mr. Childs speaks of the American owners and their political spokesmen pressing for invasion who in doing so "did the President a deep disservice." What about the disservice they did to the Cuban people, and the American people who would die in millions under nuclear bombs, and to a civilization that would be wrecked thereby, whether or not we win a military victory over Russia and Cuba? PHILLIPS RUSSELL Chapel Hill, N.C. • EDITOR: Just finished reading the Nov. 15th issue of the "Coral Gables Times." Congratulations to you and your staff on the eight prizes in the recent press contest. It is gratifying to see that others recognize the fine job which you are doing with The Times. I read it religiously each week. EARL CRITTENDEN District Manager, Southern Bell • EDITOR: A WORK OF REAL MERIT FINDS FAVOR AT LAST— A. B. Alcott Congratulations to the editor, all of the employes and a special salute to Raymond Lang for the recognition received at the Florida State Press Awards. Citizens of Coral Gables should be pleased and thankful that our local paper has gained the reputation within its own industry of looking at both sides of the coin, and allowing the change to fall where it will. Such reporting and coverage over a period of time can have only one outcome — benefit for all. R. L. BUDDE City National Bank • EDITOR: Congratulations! GEORGE J. POULOS 5825 NE 2ND AVE. • EDITOR: The undersigned is a Georgia country boy and will never profess to be anything but. But I'll swear! Back home I could have busted half a furrow of corn middles in the same amount of time it takes that dadburn streetlight at Ponce and Giralda to turn green (driving on Giralda). I took and timed it one day, and it stayed red for a minute and five seconds. DANIEL DIXON HUTCHINS 441 Anastasia Ave.
