Double Ring Ceremony Unites The Richard F. Lawrences
On a wedding trip to New Orleans are Mr. and Mrs. Richard F. Lawrence, following their marriage Sunday in Cypress, Fla. The bride is the former Miss Adele Joan Malice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Malice, of 8450 SW 172nd St., South Miami. The groom is the son of Blount Lawrence of Marianna and the late Mrs. Lawrence. The double ring ceremony took place at 2:30 p.m. in the Methodist Church, Cypress with the Rev. Marvin Deese officiating. Bride's Gown Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white imported silk organza gown featuring an Alencon lace bodice with high scalloped Sabrina neckline, long point-at-hand sleeves. The skirt featured a sheath lace panel of the lace accented with crushed cumberbund, a pannier of the lace flowing into a chapel train. A crown of seed pearls held her voluminous illusion veil. She carried white roses with baby's breath bouquet. Rosa Malice, twin sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Frances Malice and Mary Jo Malice, sisters of the bride, were bridesmaids. Maid of Honor The honor maid wore a peony silk chiffon designed with draped bodice, scoop neckline, sheath style skirt with flowing panel. Matching clips of chiffon leaves held her circle headpiece of illusion. The bridesmaids' gowns of pink were made identical to the honor maids. They carried small bouquets of pink and coral roses. Harold Crawford of Marianna was best man. Donald D. Carroll and Calvin Crawford, both of Marianna, and Ron Faul, of Fort Lauderdale, were ushers. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Malice wore a lavendar silk brocade sheath with matching great coat. Her flowers were white orchids. Gables Graduate The bride is a graduate of Coral Gables High School and attended the University of Florida. With her twin sister, her maid of honor, she was presented in the first annual Coral Gables Woman's Club debutante presentation three years ago when she and Rosa were high school seniors. The groom was graduated from Chipola Junior College, Marianna, and attended the University of Florida. The couple will reside in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. MRS. RICHARD F. LAWRENCE

Mrs. William Smith Heads Cancer Drive
Mrs. William P. Smith will head the American Cancer Society's crusade in April this year in Coral Gables, according to Mrs. Arthur W. Wood Jr., residential drive chairman of Dade County. The house-to-house campaign will be on Tuesday, April 18, between 6 and 9 p.m. Well known for her many activities in the community, Mrs. Smith, who affectionately is known as "Nan", was born in Sydney, Australia, coming to the United States 16 years ago. She is a past president of the Women's Auxiliary to the Dade County Medical Association and is active in the Florida and Southern Medical Auxiliaries, as well as the Doctors' Hospital Auxiliary. She is interested in and a member of the Patrons Committee of the Museum of Science and Natural History. Church And Home She is a member of St. Philips Episcopal Church, a housewife and mother of three children: Wayne, 10; Phillip, 8 and Janet, 2. She resides with her doctor husband and family at 1230 Blue Road. Volunteers are needed for the April Crusade in the Coral Gables area. Mrs. Smith asks that anyone who will give just one hour of their time to join the fight against cancer to call her at MO 1-2906. Doctor's Wife Mrs. Smith stated, "As a doctor's wife, I am most aware of the toll that cancer takes. When we realize that every two minutes someone dies of cancer in the United States, giving one hour of your time to forward the program of research, education and service to the cancer patient in Dade County, adds up to an hour well invested." "We want to eliminate cancer for the generation our children are growing into and supporting the American Cancer Society is the most effective means we have of doing so" added Mrs. Smith. Last year of the $117,000 raised by the Dade County Unit of the American Cancer Society, $53,000 was allocated to the University of Miami through the Society's nationally coordinated research program. All but $6000 of the $117,000 was utilized in the local ACS program. The volunteers will leave a leaflet at every home which outlines "The 7 Danger Signals," nature's warnings of cancer.
