Mary Elizabeth Patrick Now Mrs. George Rogers

MARY ELIZABETH PATRICK Mary Elizabeth Patrick Now Mrs. George Rogers A double ring ceremony at Tamiami Methodist Church joined Mary Elizabeth Patrick and George Oliver Rogers in marriage June 17. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Clifford Patrick Jr. of 6459 SW 12th St., West Miami. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Vernon Rogers, 2473 Abace Ave., Coconut Grove. The bride selected a floor-length gown of imported silk organza. Designed with a molded basque bodice it featured a modified sabrina neckline of re-embroidered Alencon lace enhanced with tiny seed pearls. The sleeves were short and slightly shirred. Her aisle-wide skirt was adorned with Alencon lace medallions and back streamers above a chapel train. Imported silk illusion fell from her crown of orange blossoms and pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of white orchids with lily of the valley. Her attendants wore aqua silk organza ballerina length dresses with lace bodice and bouffant skirts. They wore matching accessories. Maid of honor was Linda Carlton, and Janet Grimm was bridesmaid. Junior Bridesmaid was Emily Ann Braddock of Belle Glade. Lynn Kay Allison was the flower girl and the bride's brother, Douglas Patrick acted as ring bearer. Kenneth Olson Jr. of Vero Beach was best man and ushers were Bruce Walek, Burton Norris, Jerry Wright and Clifford Patrick. Miss Patrick graduated from Southwest High School and is employed at the First National Bank of Miami. The groom is a graduate of Miami Senior High, and is attending the University of Florida where he is president of Mu Alpha Theta Fraternity. After a wedding tour of Florida, the couple will reside at the Biltmore Gardens, 6750 SW 8th St.

Red Oath No Longer Issue, People Group Reorganizing

Election of new officers to the newly chartered Coral Gables People to People Program Inc., is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. today (Thursday) at City Hall. All general members of the committee will participate in the election in the City Commission Room, according to Joe Mantinan, one of the original subscribers and administrative assistant to the city manager. The rift which resulted from the requirement by the City Commission that members be required to sign a loyalty oath has been patched, Mantinan said, and the organization is ready to move ahead with its program of cementing relations between Coral Gables and its sister exchange city, Cartagena, Colombia. Only a few dissidents who still decline to sign the oath, are expected to drop out of the program, Mantinan said. The second of two votes was 10-8 in favor of signing the oath after the City Commission's requirement had been turned down 7-5 in an earlier go-round. City Commissioners, who will sit as ex-officio members on the new group, insisted on the oath before they turned over the reigns to a private corporation. A new membership drive will be one of the first items to be considered by the reorganized People to People group, Mantinan said. Plans must also be made for the arrival in fall of a delegation for Cartagena under the exchange program.
