West of The City Limits

Continued from Page 1 shelter firm, says that the unit is installed with a hand-operated blower system which allows the fresh filtered air to come in and stale air to go out. Indianer also says that Civil Defense officials will watch (well, not literally) the experiment. There was great preparations the other day at the Westchester Shopping Plaza. The bride came out to watch workmen lowering the shelter into the earth at the shopping Plaza, and to familiarize herself with the facilities. She and her husband-to-be seemed to be looking forward to the "test," — and to the two weeks all-expense vacation they'll be getting after they come out of the shelter on September 30. This is certainly an interesting experiment. I doubt whether Joan is making a wise decision in going through with this, however. Can you imagine a wife having her husband around for two weeks — and NOT being able to ask him to throw out the garbage?

W. Dade Wants You At Meeting Tonight

The West Dade Citizens Assn. will play host to a debate tonight (Thursday) between opposing groups in the forthcoming election regarding the McLeod Amendment. Two speakers representing the pro-McLeod forces and two speakers from a group supporting Metropolitan Government will discuss the issues at the open meeting at 8 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Coral Way Methodist Church, 7900 Coral Way. "The discussion is open to the public as well as our members," said Ron Levitt, president of the civic group. "We feel residents will get a better understanding of what they'll be voting on by hearing these opposition views." The West Dade Citizens Assn., composed of several hundred families from the Southwest suburban areas, Coral Gables and South Miami, is expected to take a stand on the McLeod Amendment following the debate. Speaking in behalf of Metropolitan government will be Dr. H. Franklin Williams, vice president of the University of Miami in charge of community relations and a member of the original Charter Board, and Attorney Robert Freedman. Attorneys William Jruitt and Robert Wolfe will represent the pro-McLeod Amendment group. A question and answer session will follow.
