Palmetto Sets Up Code of Ethics to Govern Students
By EUNICE TALL Correspondent A Code of Ethics, formed by a Palmetto Student Council committee headed by Suzan Hill, was recently adopted by the student body. This Code of Ethics consists of moral principles and practices. Three divisions of the Code, Patriotism, Honor, and Service, will represent PHS or Palmetto High School. PATRIOTISM 1. As a citizen of the United States and as a student of Palmetto High School, I will resepet the flag, and uphold the principles of which it stands. 2. I will hold my alma mater in highest esteem. 3. I will pledge my loyalty to my school through spirit, actions and good will. 4. I will endeavor by my conduct, to reflect credit upon my school as well as my home. HONOR 1. I will, by taking all tests honesty, maintain a high standard of self honor. 2. I will show proper respect for my teachers and fellow students. 3. I will place my integrity above personal gain. SERVICE 1. When called upon to represent my school, I will conduct myself in such a manner as to uphold the good reputation of PHS. 2. I will serve Palmetto with enthusiasm and pride. 3. I will at all times demonstrate my willingness to serve my fellow students and community. * * * Palmetto delegated five school leaders to the seventh annual Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Conference held at the University of Miami Dec. 16. Representing Palmetto were John Evans, engineering and science; Tom Johnson, foirsenics and fine arts; Mike Crissey, athletics; Pete Andrus, student government; and Doug Greist, publications.
