And Why Shouldn't Caldwell Be As Good an Art Name as Renoir?

They might not have been Van Gogh's and Lautrec's, but they were Caldwell's and Gordon's and 36 others. And they were just as proud. About 38 Coral Gables and South Miami children who attend art classes at Lowe Art Gallery had their works exhibited last Sunday on the Beau Arts Pavilion. The little artists were the children of Lowe Art Gallery members. Exhibit sponsors were Beaux Arts. Second session of children's art classes begin at the end of January. A child can attend, even if his parents are not members, provided the youngster is sponsored by a member. Young people exhibiting from Coral Gables were Stephany Ames, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn L. Ames; Katie and Nanette Biers, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Biers. Diane Caldwell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Eugene Caldwell. James Cramner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry K. Solloway; Danine L. Carey, sponsored by Mrs. Lewis E. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde O. Johnson; Andrea Kirsh, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Kirsh. Michael Koller, son of Mrs. Claire Koller; Suzie Lewy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James K. Lewy. Robert Pozen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Pozen; Diana Scholtz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James T. Scholtz; Debby Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Wright; South Miami's young people were Peggy Ann Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack B. Brown; Sue Cusac, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Cusac. Sharon W. Ehrenreich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ehrenreich; Paulette Fried, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Fried. Mark and Louis Gottlieb, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur G. City Decides Grove Needs Sewers More

A $358,000 plan to expand the sewer system in the area across South Dixie Highway from the University of Miami Main Campus has been tabled by the City Commission. The Commission decided rather that the industrial and Coconut Groves section of the Gables needed sewers more. City Manager L. W. Robinson Jr., who presented the plans for two new areas of sanitary sewer system SS-8, is getting up figures on costs of extending the system to the areas designated by the Commission. The SS-8 extension would have provided collection lines and laterals in the area south of the Highway and west of Maynada and another area southwest of the University Waterway. Finance Director Kenneth Allyn told the Commission there would not be enough money in the $1 million capital improvement program to complete both sewer jobs. Approximately $350,000 of the improvement program has been earmarked for sewer extension. The money would eventually be returned through hookup charges and usage.

Jimmy's Car Is No 'Gasser' -- Really

By MAURICE LABELLE Times Reporter When Dr. James K. McShane tells you his Mercedes-Benz doesn't burn any gas, he's not fibbing. It's a diesel. Looking at it, you'd never know the difference, but when he steps on the gas — oops — diesel — you know it's no ordinary car. "There's no noisy until you get them going," said the doctor. Dr. McShane bought the car in Germany last summer while touring Europe with his wife and friends, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Nebe, of 3420 Durango St. They clocked 3,800 miles visiting West Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, where Dr. McShane had the ivory colored sedan put aboard the liner Santa Maria for the trip back. "It's a very common car in Europe," Dr. McShane said, but its characteristic noise has brought comment here. The six-passenger sedan, which seats four comfortably in its curved seats, sometimes looks odd sitting next to a big tractor truck while filling up at a truck stop, but that's only once every two weeks. Dr. McShane says he gets 32 miles per gallon out of the spark plug-less, high compression engine which he says begins to quiet down and after he hits 40 mph or better. "They're (diesels) slow getting out," said Dr. McShane, but really purr over 40 mph. SERVICE STATION OPERATOR PHIL JANAXEY CHECKS DR. McSHANE'S CAR
