THEY DANCED THE twist recently at the Westbrooke Country Club opening. Among those shown are Guide columnist Ron Levitt (right).
When the Dust Settled at Westbrooke, 3 Were Locked in a Tie For 1st Place
A three-way tie for first place highlighted the Inaugural Pro-Am Westbrooke Country Club tennis tournament last week. Winners of the round-robin tournament, with a total of 33 victories out of a possible 56 games, were Al Harum, (Coral Gables Country Club) teamed with Ike Macy; George Pero (Riviera Country Club) teamed with Norman Schellinger; and Jack Cook (Salvadore Park) teamed with Meek Robinette. A flurry of 8-0 games in the final matches created the three-way tie. Harum and Macy had two 8-0 games in the final three matches. The Pero and Cook teams also shut out their opponents in the final matches. The late hour shutouts knocked Pro George Ellis and amateur Orlando Zuletta out of the victory after they had led in the early matches. They took fourth spot with 32 wins. Westbrooke host pro, Bill Doeg, said the Pro-Am event would be played at Westbrooke each January to celebrate the anniversary of the opening of the new southwest Miami social and recreational facility.

Bill Doeg, member of a well-known tennis family, has been named tennis pro at the club. Doeg, once third-ranked in junior singles, has served as professional of several of the nation's leading clubs. These include the River Oaks Country Club, Houston, the Allegheny Country Club in Pittsburgh and Lookout Mountain Club near Nashville.
