Humphries Low Bidder On New Guaranty Bank

Low bidder on the new Guaranty Bank of Miami, SW 83rd Avenue and Bird Road, is W. Larry Humphries, Inc. for $67,000. The low bidder on the one-story building's air conditioning system is S & S Air Conditioning for $8,529. Total cost of the bank will be approximately $175,000. Chartered by the state, the new bank is scheduled for opening in June. President is L. H. Skeen and vice president and cashier, Paul F. Staup. Eleven men, most of them local business leaders, will serve as directors.

BOY SCOUT MEET

Outstanding Boy Scouts in District 3 will be honored at the recognition banquet scheduled for March 6, 7 p.m. at the South Miami Heights Cabana Club. Earl Faircloth, committee chairman of Pack 32, will be the speaker.

Boys Can Register Monday for Ball Team

Boys 9 to 15 may register Monday for the 1962 baseball season according to an announcement by the South Miami Recreation Department. The season will be officially opened by Mayor Paul U. Tevis during the first week of May. Boys can register at the South Miami Field, 6791 SW 62nd St., Monday, Mar. 5-9, 4:30-6:00 p.m. and Saturday, Mar 10, 9 a.m. until noon. All new players must show proof of age by presenting their birth certificates or equivalent. Evaluations will be Mar. 12-16, 4:30-6:00 p.m. and Mar. 17, 9 a.m. until noon. The baseball program is handled by the coaching staff of the South Miami Junior Athletic League under the direction of Charles Skalaski, recreation director. Newly elected officers of the League are Donald R. March, president; Henry Houghton, vice president; Everett S. Emerson, secretary; and Harold C. Sheldon, treasurer.

McDonald Ill

H. W. McDonald, South Miami Chamber of Commerce executive secretary, is still listed in "serious" condition at South Miami Hospital. McDonald was admitted Feb. 20 after he was stricken with coronary thrombosis while attending the luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club. Val Stieglitz and John Karueza are handling chamber affairs in McDonald's absence.
