PLENTY OF PLANTERS
showed up when members of five Coral Gables organizations gathered recently to plant Amaryllis bulbs in a triangular garden off Ponce de Leon Blvd. at Alhambra Cir. Between 600-800 bulbs were planted Monday and it's expected they'll bloom in the shape of a cross at Easter. Showing up in their gardening clothes with spades in their hands were members of the Coral Gables Civic Club, Hi-Neighbor Club, Welcome Wagon, Woman's Association of the First Presbyterian Church of Coral Gables and the Coral Gables Woman's Club.
Mrs. Irma McDaniel Is Soloist
Mrs. Irma Burns McDaniel, soprano, will be the featured soloist Sunday at the Musicians Club of America's 4 p.m. weekly program. Charles Richard will be the accompanist. Mrs. McDaniel received her training at the Chicago Musical College under Graham Reed and Nelli Gardini, both known here in musical circles. She also studied with Ivan Velikanos. She will sing two Brahms numbers, inluding "Ihr Wundersch-oenen Augenblicke." She will also do a scene from Act IV from Othello by Verdi. Mr. Rilhard, who is assistant to Dr. Arturo diFilippi, will play piano selections from Debussy and Poulanc.

Biltmore Golfer Heads Miami Group
For the second year in a row The Biltmore Women's Golf Association has had a member elected president for the Greater Miami Golf Association. The newly elected president is Mrs. Claude Kinder, a past golf chairman and president of Biltmore Women's Golf Association. The outgoing president is Mrs. Helen Anderson, member of Biltmore Women's Golf Association and Coral Gables Country Club. The installation of officers and luncheon was held at the Miami Shores Country Club, Tuesday, Nov. 29. The Biltmore Women's Golfers have just concluded a "turkey Shoot" tournament, sponsored by Mrs. Samie Dickinson and Mrs. Howard Plasmann. They donated six turkeys. The winners in a low net tournament were: Class "A", Miss Jane Fraser and Mrs. Mary Brown; Class "B", Mrs. A. Bachmann and Mrs. Audrey Hanna; Class "C", Mrs. M. Finerty and Mrs. Helen Singer. The Biltmore Women's Golf Association is now planning for the forthcoming second annual Coral Gables Opener, which will be given Dec. 5 for a week.
Center To Hold Sculpture Class
Workshops in beginning sculpture and advanced ceramics will be held at the Coral Gables Youth Center, 400 Andalusia Ave., the week of Dec. 5. Carlie Tart, graduate of the University of Miami and former art instructor in the Dade County Public Schools, will conduct the workshops. The beginners' sculpture classes will be held Dec. 5-8, 9 a.m.-noon, and Dec. 9, 1-4 p.m. Advanced ceramics, covering the whole field of clay, will be Dec. 5-9, 7-10 p.m. The fee will be $20 for each 15-hour course. Materials will be available for a small charge if students cannot furnish their own. Reservations should be made in advance.
Mrs. Horace Cordes Is Golf Winner
Riviera Country Club Women's Golf Association came up with "selected nine holes with one half handicap" for their Tuesday play. Mrs. Horace F. Cordes was winner in Class A with a net 36. Mrs. Don C. Ajac was winner in Class B with a net 33, and winner in Class C with a net 34 was Mrs. David Schriner.

Southwest YMHA Plans Sculpture Class
The Southwest YMHA, 7215 Coral Way, a branch of the Greater Miami Jewish Community Center, opening registration for a sculpture class in clay. The class, under the supervision of Marcelle DuLac, will be held on Tuesday evenings, from 8 to 10 p.m. Classes will begin Dec. 6 and will continue for eight weeks. Since space is limited, registration will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. For registration, call the "Y" office, CA 1-5141.
Drama Debate
"Classical Theater or Modern Theater-Respective Merits and Controversy" was discussed and debated by Jack Clay, assistant professor of drama, University of Miami and Ruth Foreman, owner-director of the Studio M Playhouse, as guests of the Women's Alliance of the First Unitarian Church on Nov. 30.
