MCCLAIN Charles Palmer McClain, 88, of 19301 SW 87th Ave., died recently. A Miami resident for 30 years. Veteran of WWII and was a retired service manager for the Packard Motor Car Company. Survived by one daughter, Mrs. Winnifred Harvey, Jacksonville. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. ORCUTT Hope Elizabeth Orcutt. Infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell V. Orcutt of Miami died Wednesday, Sept. 1. Survivors are her parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William F. Sorensen Jr., Coral Gables, and Mrs. Vincent T. Orcutt, Niantic, Conn. Private services were held Friday. The family suggest memorials in lieu of flowers to the Nursery of Granada Presbyterian Church, Coral Gables. Arrangements by Van Orsdel Coral Gables Chapel. POWELL Delbert E. Powell, of 9961 SW 198th St., died Friday, Sept. 10. A Miami resident for seven years coming from Painesville, Ohio and was an Elk. Survived by one son, George E., two daughters, Mrs. Marilyn L. Murphy and Peewee, three brothers, Raymond, Charles and Ralph, five sisters. Mary, Louise Pearl, Emagene and June and four grandchildren. Services were 2 p.m. Monday at the Stanfill Kendall Chapel. SESSLER Ida Nancy Sessler, 86, of Coral Gables died Saturday, Sept. 11. She had been a resident for 58 years formerly of Roanoke, Va. and was founding member of the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables. Survived by two sons, Kenneth of Atlanta; Frank of Miami; sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Morris of Homestead; Mrs. Mary V. Hefley of Fort Pierce; four grandchildren and one great-grandchildren. Services were 2 p.m. Monday at Philbrick and Son Coral Gables Chapel. The Rev. Paul J. Erb officiated. Burial took place in Flagler Memorial Park. SHALHOUB Leo N. Shalhoub, died Monday, Sept. 6. He is survived by his wife, Isabelle; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth; and one sister. Services were Wednesday, 11 a.m. at St. Hugh Catholic Church. Burial took place at Our Lady of Mercy. Arrangements by Ahern-Plummer Bird Road Chapel. SIMMONS Stella H. Simmons, 85, of Coral Gables died Saturday, Sept. 11. She had been a Coral Gables resident since 1952 formerly of Winston Salem, N.C. She was an accomplished musician and composer. An active member of the University Baptist Church and through the efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Simmons they have brought approximately 375 members into the church uembership. She served as chairman of the Flowers Arts Committee of the church for approximately 15 years. She is survived by her husband, George, who was a well known tobacco industrialist, a daughter, Mrs. Harry G. Dauerheim of Coral Gables; two sisters, Mrs. Terry W. Alspaugh, Mrs. Josephine H. Perry both of Winston Salem, N.C. a granddaughter, Mrs. David A. Anisansel of Coral Gablaes and a great-grandson, David Andrew. Services were 11 a.m. Monday at the University Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Yearly officiating. Entombment Woodlawn Park Mausoleum. WHITEHEAD Thelma B. Whitehead, died Sept. 8. She is survived by a son, John; daughters, Mrs. June A. Nick and Mrs. Mary Ellen Cloutier; one sister, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services were Friday, Sept. 10 at the Ahern-Plummer Bird Road Chapel. Burial in Southern Memorial Cemetery.
