26th annual Jr. OB Parade is history

It never rains on a Coral Gables parade, and Wednesday was no exception, as the 26th annual Junior Orange Bowl parade wound its way through the City Beautiful. Some 75,000 spectators stood shoulder to shoulder along Miracle Mile and Biltmore Way to watch daydreams float by. "Spin Me a Daydream" was the theme of this year's parade, and there were daydreams aplenty, from the Good Ship Lollipop to the giant American Red Rose. And there were marching bands. Twenty in all, hailing from as far away as Boulder, Col. and as close as Coral Gables High. And let's not forget Anita Bryant. She was there, along with Chuck Barris of the "Gong Show," doing the play-by-play for NBC. But most of all there were people, peering from office windows, standing on rooftops, lined up along the route. They all came to see a parade. Photos by Frank Tursi
