Wall graphic good idea but work out scale first

dear decorator . . . al evans move tape. Voila! A do-it-yourself graphic! My choice for your colors would be two shades of gray, one silvery for sparkle, and one accent color — rich burgundy or royal blue would be great. If you decide to have your graphic done professionally, substitute real mirror for the silver paint. Whichever you decide, I feel the result will be original and fun. Let me know when my "graphic description" becomes your wall graphic. Dear Decorator: Hope you can reveal one of your trade secrets. My husband and I have decorated our new apartment in a modern mood. It came out beautifully in tones of gray, from the palest shade to the deepest. Now we would love to put a graphic on our wall in the living room. How do we do it? What colors do you suggest? Shall we try to do it ourselves? Please help us. We love your witty and informative column. Mrs. Ruth Fine South Miami Dear Modern Mood: Thank you for your kind compliments. You certainly know how to get me to reveal my trade secrets. Just keep the letters and compliments coming and I'll tell you anything! Your modern apartment done in shades of gray sounds perfectly lovely. Bravo to you and your hubby. Your idea to include a graphic on the wall rates my heartiest approval, too. As for doing it yourself, you decide. If you can assure me good results, go to it. Work out your design on graph paper first, to get the proper scale and perspective, then take varied widths of masking tape and apply them to your wall securely. Now, just take a good quality paint and your trusty brush in hand and paint between the taped outline. Allow to dry thoroughly and re-

Real Estate MEL AUGUST G.R.I. REALTOR

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE BUYER In the arena of real estate transactions — there are two parties to every transaction — a buyer and seller. Some sellers have the mistaken impression that they are at a financial advantage when negotiating directly with a prospective buyer. Unfortunately, they couldn't be more mistaken! Never underestimate the hard financial bargaining ability of the average buyer. Spend one day in the field with any Realtor, negotiating and handling offers and counter-offers and you'll appreciate what I'm saying. Frankly, if the typical buyer knows you are not selling through a Realtor, right off the bat he'll expect you to deduct the commission for HIS benefit before you even START serious negotiations. Then you're on your own, possibly at a great disadvantage, in the intricate areas of financing, negotiating, and protecting yourself from all sorts of do-it-yourself pitfalls. You've got a lot invested in your home. It makes sense to list it with a Realtor. He'll sell it for you — without hitches, for the best price and in the shortest amount of time. * * * * * * * * * * If there is anything we can do to help you in the field of real estate, please phone or drop in at M.
