Chairs can be same and lovely, too dear decorator ... al evans
Dear Decorator: I hope you don't think my question is stupid, but I keep reading about host and hostess chairs, and that they should be painted differently, or upholstered in a different fabric than the other chairs, that they shouldn't match. Can you explain what is meant by host and hostess chairs, and can you describe them? Mrs. Alice Lehman, Coral Gables. Dear Hostess: The fact that you read my column immediately convinces me that you're not stupid. On the contrary, your question is a valid one, indeed. I hope the following explanation will answer your question satisfactorily. When referring to host and hostess chairs, it means simply the chairs at the head of the dining room table-the chairs the host and hostess sit in, to clarify things further. Unmatched host and hostess chairs are interesting, but not necessary in every case, and dining room chairs can all be the same and be lovely, too. Dear Decorator: I'm a single young woman with a question. I'd like to decorate my new apartment so it has a romantic atmosphere. I plan to entertain a lot, and I'd like the mood to be cozy, warm and sexy. How do I do this? D.S. Kendall. Dear Tigress: Snare your prey as follows. Use lots of warm colors, bursts of yellows, oranges and reds. All your furniture should be soft, plushy and comfortable, covered in tactile fabrics, such as velvets, suedes and satins. Your lighting must be moody and mysterious, preferably indirect, but definitely on dimmers. As for accessories, use lots of lush green plants, some interesting books, magazines and conversation pieces strategically placed. Have large functional ashtrays available. Now for the final touch. Make sure to have good stereo equipment and some "music for lovers" type records. Have a good vintage bottle of wine chilling in a silver wine bucket, and take it from there. Happy hunting. This dining area presents a pretty picture with host and hostess chairs which are interesting but not necessary.

Real Estate MEL AUGUST G.R.I. REALTOR OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS ... NOW!
When it comes to making a good real estate investment, if there was ever a good time to buy - that time is NOW! From all indications, the real estate market has bottomed and is on its way upward. The mortgage market has turned around and adequate funds are now available. Although mortgage interest rates have become more favorable they are not expected to drop below the current levels, rather, they are expected to ease upward. The supply of good housing will diminish in the next 12 months. Last year's output of 1.16 million was the lowest in 29 years. This year's production will be somewhat higher, but will not meet housing requirements. Demand will outrace current supply. When this happens, prices always rise. Real estate has always been a sound investment and the best hedge against inflation. Its value historically increases faster than the cost of living. With all these factors falling into place, if there was ever a good time to buy real estate - that time is NOW! ************* If there is anything we can do, to help you in the field of real estate, please phone or drop in at M. AUGUST & CO. INC. REALTORS, 9135 Galloway Rd., Miami. Phone 595-0233. We're here to help! EDITOR'S NOTE: Realtor Mel August has served on the Education Committee of the Miami Board of Realtors, and was appointed to the Education Committee of the Kendall-Perrine Board of Realtors for 1977.
