Coral Gables Career Women Hold Annual May Breakfast Meeting Miss Dora Thomas Elected President
Miss Dora Thomas was installed president of the Coral Gables Business and Professional Woman's Club in a beautiful candle-light ceremony Sunday at the San Sebastian Restaurant at the annual May breakfast. Sarah Lee Creech of Belle Glade, second vice president of the State Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, was the installing officer. Others installed were June McCay, 1st vice president; Rose Horn, 2nd vice president; Bertha Kinney, recording secretary; Marjorie Hagaman, recording secretary and Lillian Snow, treasurer. Miss Horn, retiring president, was the toastmaster and revealed that during her tenure of office 29 new members were added to the rolls. Tables were decorated following the May pole theme with May baskets filled with Coral Vine, the club flower, centering each table. Distinguished guests, club presidents from nearby communities present included Mrs. Opal Eckert, Mrs. Lily May Durgin, Mrs. Vina Betterly and Mrs. Edna Van Aeker. The club voted Mrs. Juliette Petrecca proprietor of the Little Way Flowers as the outstanding club woman of the year. Mrs. Petrecca furnished the flowers free of charge for all club affairs. Boxes put on the tables to pay for the flowers yielded $50. This will be used toward the Crippled Children Hospital fund of the club.
Club President Plans Busy Summer
A week in the Florida Keys on their cabin cruiser will provide interest for part of this summer when the Curtis Haggards leave in July. In June, however, Mrs. Haggard will go to New York to attend the Women's Clubs Convention and later on in the summer the entire family will go away for a short vacation.
Miss Connell Feted
Miss Jean Connell, a graduating senior at the University, was feted at a small party given for her before the Junior-Senior prom last Saturday night. The party was given by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James T. Connell, 1207 Cordova. Floral decorations for the party were blended into bronze, pink and blue, the colors of Delta Gamma, Miss Connell's sorority.
To Visit In Virginia
Mrs. Ira H. Lamont, Jr., of 5838 Devonshire Blvd., Coral Gables, will visit Miss Martha Black in Staunton, Va., next month. The two women are planning to visit Sulphur Springs together. Mrs. Lamont hopes to see the horse shows while she is in Virginia. She also hopes to have Miss Black return to Coral Gables with her for a visit.
For July
A July trip to Harrisburg, Pa., will take Mr. and Mrs. Charles De Camps, 709 Aragon Palermo, north for a month's vacation. The De Camps plan to visit Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Davis, a brother and sister-in-law of Mrs. De Camp. The Davis' will return to Coral Gables with the De Camps for a short vacation here.
Mrs. Vance Hostess
Sigma Kappa mothers and grandmothers will be honored this Sunday when the Beta Delta chapter holds its annual Mother's Day tea at the home of Mrs. Herbert O. Vance, 4520 Santa Maria Street in Coral Gables. Mrs. James Anderson and Miss Mary Ruth Murray, alumnae, will alternate at the punch bowl.

ALUMNAE CLUB TELLS DETAILS FOR SHOPING
Smith College Club Alumnae will set up headquarters for its Miracle Mile shopping tour May 12-13 and 14 at 348 Coral Way. Chairman Mrs. E. E. Pennock will have as her assistants Mrs. O. F. Martin, decorations; Mrs. Edwin H. Mairs, signs; Mrs. Frank Myers, infant display; Miss Jeanne Lind, Miss Wilmotine Owens, college clothes. Mrs. George Price will be in charge of college display and information regarding entrants requirements at Smith. Mrs. A. B. Morrison, president of the alumnae group, will act as hostess at the refreshment booth, assisted by Miss Patricia McClintock and a group of future Smith students. The double quartet of "Smithenpoofs" will be heard in transcription and members of the staff of WBAY will be on hand to broadcast interviews with passers-by.
To Visit Mrs. Fowler's Parents
The summer home of Mrs. H. D. Fowler's parents will provide the background for the Fowler's pleasant summer. As in the past, they will spend their summer in Highlands, N. C., as guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Kirkland.
To Visit Virginia Parents
A month's vacation in July will find Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Jennings, 614 Malaga Ave., visiting the parents of both Mr. and Mrs. Jennings in Fredericksburg, Va. The visit and reunions being planned with great joy as the Jennings are anxious to see their parents.

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY TO INSTALL NEW OFFICERS WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT LEGION
Coral Gables American Legion Auxiliary, Unit No. 98, will install officers at 8 p. m. Wednesday in the Coral Gables Legion home, 203 Alhambra Circle. Installing officer will be Mrs. A. E. Reinhard, 10th District president, assisted by the district secretary, Mrs. Herbert Weiss. Officers to be installed are: President, Mrs. F. R. Wickard; first vice-president; Mrs. P. P. Savage, Jr.; second vice-president, Mrs. C. H. Echtle, corresponding secretary; Mrs. William H. Craven, Jr.; recording secretary, Mrs. T. J. Kelly; treasurer, Mrs. E. W. Deering; historian, Mrs. J. F. Kivett; chaplain, Mrs. R. F. Mayer; sergeant-at-arms, Mrs. E. R. Hahn; assistant sergeant-at-arms, Mrs. M. H. Griffith. Executive committee members: Mrs. August Sachs, Mrs. L. A. Marvin and Mrs. H. G. Kruse. Mrs. P. P. Savage, Jr., assisted by Mrs. L. A. Marvin, Mrs. H. G. Kruse, Mrs. C. E. Waldron and Mrs. O. D. Fiore will have charge of decorations and refreshments. Music for the occasion will be furnished by Mrs. F. D. Dixon. The unit was awarded a department and a national citation for increase in membership at the department convention recently held in Miami.
Visit Daughter
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Francis Brennan of Trenton, N. J., arrived Friday for a week's visit with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hickey, of 16 Avenue Santilane. The Brennans, who motored down, were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Alex Christy of Philadelphia. The Hickeys and Mrs. Hickey's sister, Miss Roberta Brennan, who makes her home here, entertained the visitors at the regular buffet dinner Wednesday night at the Country Club of Coral Gables.

Ponce Band-Glee Clubs In Concert
In observance of National Music Week (May 4-10), the Ponce de Leon high school band and the school's combined boys and girls' glee club will present a concert in two parts tonight at 8 p.m. in the Coral Gables Elementary School auditorium. Highlighting the concert will be a presentation of Victor Herbert's "Medley" by the band and chorus. Featured student soloists will be: Anibal, Neill, Johansen, Metzger, Bowers, and Faust.
To Lookout Mountain
Lookout Mountain will provide a cool summer for the Howard Biggers when they leave for Cloudland in June. The Biggers plan to be away for the rest of the summer and will spend most of the time at Cloudland.
Festival Plans In Final Stages
Final plans for the Royal Poinciana Festival to be held June 1-8 will be decided at a meeting of the festival directors which will be held Friday, 3:30 p.m. in the Blue Room of the Ingraham building. Mrs. M. F. Wittichen is president and Mrs. Beatrice Hunt, general chairman. According to Mrs. Hunt more than 1,000 young Royal Poinciana trees were distributed by the City of Miami Park Department on May 1 to citizens of the Greater Miami area and additional trees will be given to schools for beautifying their play grounds. Mrs. Robert G. Lasseter of Miami Beach and Oxford, N.C., is chairman of the tree planting committee, with Grace Stone Hall chairman of the special committee in charge of school planting.
Fairchild Tropical to Meet
Showing of colored slides of material growing in your garden with bloom, will highlight the Fairchild Tropical Garden meeting at 7:45 p.m. Thursday at the club house. Members and friends of members invited; no charge.
MR. AND MRS. GAITHER PERRY HOSTS FOR REHEARSAL DINNER
Parties have been crowding the calendar for Miss Ann Sargent, whose marriage to Gaither Perry, III, will take place at the Coral Gables Congregational Church tomorrow night. Mr. and Mrs. Gaither Perry, Jr., parents of the bridegroom-to-be will entertain tonight with the rehearsal dinner. Members of the bridal party and out-of-town relatives, here for the nuptials, will be guests. Wednesday night Mrs. James Nelson French, nee Kay Buritt gave a bridge-shower for Miss Sargent at her home, on Rivo Alto Island, Miami Beach. A May pole was used on the gifts table. The Columbia Room at the Miami Colonial Hotel was chosen May 3 for the luncheon Miss Sargents' bridesmaids, Rosemary Glomb and Maria Cubillas gave. Others attending were Mrs. John Pearce, nee Evelyn Warwick Mrs. Richard Davis, Miss Peggy Sargent, Miss Jean Williams, Mrs. J. J. Zavertnie, nee Bunny Tierney, and Miss Carlotta Cubillas. Miss Mary Margaret Sargent will serve her sister as maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids include Miss Rosemary Glomb and Miss Maria Cubillas. A color scheme of silvery green and silvery rose will accent their costumes at the wedding. Mr. Perry will be best man for his son and seating the guests will be William P. Perry, Robert Royce, Paul B. Welch and Richard Davis. Mrs. French will have charge of the bride's book at the reception following at the Sargent home and assisting will be Miss Mary Jane Westerdahl, Miss Eloise Henslee and Miss Jeanne Williams.
