BISHOP HENRY I. LOUTTIT IS NEXT SUNDAY PREACHER
Bishop Henry I. Louttit, D.D., suffragan bishop of South Florida, will be the preacher at the 11 a.m. service Sunday at St. Philip's Episcopal Church. Bishop Louttit will confirm a class of candidates preceding the sermon. Celebration of the Holy Communion will take place at 8 a.m. The anthem "Laudamus", Protecoe, by the choir will be under the direction of Mary Conover Winter, organist who will play "Adagio Cantabile" for the voluntary and "Marcia Religisossa" for the Postlude. Bishop Louttit will also address the church school at 9 a.m. Holy Communion will be celebrated at 10 a.m. next Thursday. The Young Peoples Service League will meet at 7 p.m. at the Parish House Sunday. Meetings during the next week include Junior Acolyte guild at 3:30 p.m. and choir rehearsal at 8 p.m. Thursday. St. Cecelias girl's choir at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Christian Science
First Church of Christ, Scientist in Coral Gables is opposite City Hall Park. Morning service 11 a.m. Evening Service, 8 p.m. Sunday School, 11 a.m. Wednesday evening 8 o'clock. "SOUL AND BODY" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon which will be read in Churches of Christ Scientist, throughout the world on Sunday, May 25. The Golden Text is "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God" (Psalms 42:11). Among the citations which comprise the Lesson-Sermon is the following from the Bible: "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens" (II Corinthians 5:1). The Lesson-Sermon also includes the following passage from the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "Rightly understood, instead of possessing a sentient material form, man has a sensational body; and God, the Soul of man and of all existence, being perpetual in His own individuality, harmony, and immortality, imparts and perpetuates these qualities in man,-through Mind, not matter (280:25-30).

Methodist
Dr. J. H. Daniel will preach at the 11 a.m. service Sunday at the Methodist church using as his theme, "The New Commandment." Two anthems by the choir are entitled: "The Silent Sea" by Neidlinger and "Jubilee in D Flat" by Schubert. A quartette of voices will sing for the offertory "Come Unto Me" with Robert Reinert singing the solo part.
University Baptist
The Pastor of the University Baptist Church, Dr. Ladislau Biro, will bring the message at the Morning Worship passage at eleven o'clock. He has chosen for his topic "What Can You Do?" The choir, under the direction of Mrs. Charles E. Park will sing the anthem "Nearer My God To Thee" by Millard. The Sunday School will meet at 9:45 A. M. At 6:30 P. M. the Training Union will meet and will be followed by the Evening Worship Service at 7:45 at which time the pastor, Dr. Biro, will give a report on the Southern Baptist Convention which he recently attended in St. Louis Missouri.
DAILY VACATION CHURCH SCHOOL AT FIRST CHRISTIAN
A fully graded Daily Vacation Church School will be offered by the First Christian Church, 222 Menores Avenue. The School will begin on Monday, June 16 and continue for two weeks. The purpose of the School is to offer to its children the advantages of Christian character growth, thru study, play and worship, which cannot be had in the Sunday Church School, because of the limitations of time and facilities. Registration will begin at nine o'clock on Monday morning, June 10th. The parent is asked to accompany each child for registration. More details of the School will be announced later. The school will be opened to all children.

First Christian
The First Christian Church, 222 Menores Avenue, was honored in the election of a minister, the Rev. John W. Messer, to the vice-presidency of the State Convention of the Christian Churches for the coming year. This appointment came in the closing day's session of the current State Convention, which was held at the Boulevard Christian Church, May 13-15. Mr. Messer was also elected to serve as the Southeastern District Youth Chairman. The First Christian Church was further honored in the election of Mr. T. Howard Oden to the State Board of the Christian Churches of Florida for a three-year term. Mr. Oden is the Chairman of the Planning Board and vice-chairman of the Official Board of the First Church. The Rev. Mr. Messer, will speak Sunday morning on "God Cares Beyond Our Deserving." The choir will sing "God So Loved the World." The morning worship begins at 10:45. A nursery is maintained for babies and small children. The Church School begins at 9:30. There are graded classes for all ages. The Christian Youth Fellowship begins at seven o'clock. All young people are invited to attend these splendid services, offering to young people a well-rounded program of worship, study, recreation and fellowship.
Lutheran
The rite of confirmation will be observed at the St. James Ev. Lutheran Church Sunday morning, during the regular 11:00 o'clock worship service. Both a Youth and Adult Class will be received into full church membership. Rev. C. J. Sutorius, the Pastor, will preach on the subject: "God's Message on Confirmation Day". The Sunday School will meet at 10:00 o'clock Sunday morning, providing thorough christian instruction for all age groups. The Luther League meets at 7:00 o'clock Sunday Evening at the Chapel.
Riviera Presbyterian
"The Eleventh Commandment" is the sermon subject to be heard at Riviera Presbyterian Church Sunday evening. Church School opens at 9:30 a.m. and Young People's Fellowship at 6:30 p.m. With the inauguration of regular Sunday morning services on June 1 the church will begin a new phase of its life. Organized early in 1945, the membership of Riviera has grown and the work has become so enlarged that from June 1 it will be a full time pastorate. The minister, Rev. Bruce A. Cumming, will move to South Miami from Homestead in the near future. He will begin a series of radio broadcasts Saturday, May 31, over Station WBAY, on "The Family Altar" hour, 6:45 to 7:00 p.m. "Come and make yourself at home with us!"

"Pentecost" is the message of the Eleven O'clock Morning Worship Service at the Country Club Christian Church, 1009 East Ponce de Leon Blvd., (worshiping in the Woman's Club Building) adjoining the Public Library) Coral Gables, by the Pastor, the Rev. Harvey John Fritsch. "We see that one hundred twenty people imbued with the Holy Spirit of God have now increased to something like five hundred fifty million. These millions, constituting Christendom, have risen to a place of promi-nence in world affairs and the rest of the world's one billion four hundred fifty millions of people are looking to them for light," observes the Rev. Mr. Fritsch. Holy Communion will be observed. Bible School meets at Ten A. M. with classes for all ages. Christian Endeavor meets at 6:45 P. M. and all young people are invited to attend.
Players Group Sets Lights On Late June Production
The players group of the Country Club of Coral Gables was scanning manuscripts this week for a play to be presented during the last week in June. Successfully launched via a two-night presentation of the comedy "Jason" last week, plus a "demand performance" Monday night, the group named Dr. Sidney Cassell as director for the next production. The three-night run of the initial offering, in which Dr. Cassell played the title role, played to a total of close to 1,000 playgoers. Responsible for the selection of the next dramatic enterprise was a reading committee headed by Mrs. Herbert Tuckerman and comprising Dr. Norman D. Buchan, Mrs. C. I. Gobat, Mrs. Fred Postal and Mrs. Grace Carver. The Players at a meeting this week named Mrs. Roots Royal permanent secretary of the group and E. Eldridge Pennock was appointed to assist Cassell in directing the June play. Edward C. Hodge, Frank Holley and A. E. Harum serve on a permanent advisory committee for the group, which hopes to present eight plays during the coming year.
Gables Cadets Win Scholastic, Conduct Honors
The honor roll ribbon was awarded to Cadet Charles Harris at a special ceremony on the parade grounds of the Florida Military Academy, St. Petersburg, this week. Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Harris, 1223 Avenue Almeria, won the honor for achieving the honor roll of the school 11 times out of a possible 15. At the same ceremony, Cadet Charles Burk, son of D. H. Burk of Coral Gables, was awarded the Good Conduct Medal for having received 100 merits based on good conduct and attention to duty.
Clubs to Aid Hospital Drive
Prize money awarded to the Coral Terrace Home Demonstration Club at an Achievement Day program recently will be supplemented by individual contributions of club members and contributed to the South Florida Children's Hospital. Decision to aid the hospital was made at a meeting of the Demonstration Club this week at the home of Mrs. Bernice Sisson on S. W. 22nd St. The meeting was conducted by Mrs. James Dumas, president, who read an article "Orchids To You" from the Riviera Times to the group. Fourteen members of the Demonstration Club received awards from Miss Eunice Grady, County Home Demonstration Agent, for outstanding work during the past year. Mrs. Wilma Finks, Mrs. Sisson and Mrs. Joyce Andrews were in charge of refreshments.
Moore Named Army Advisor
Riviera-Times Managing Editor James R. Moore this week was named a member of the Army Advisory Committee for Greater Miami. His appointment was announced by Col. R. G. Howie, commanding officer, Headquarters Florida Military District, at Jacksonville. Purpose of the Army committees, which are being organized in nine major cities throughout Florida, is to assist the Army in establishing and maintaining favorable and mutually advantageous relations with local communities.
