Garden Clubs Plan Tropical Fruits Display
Gables Club to Participate In Show at Simpson Center Coral Gables garden club enthusiasts will participate in the Tropical Fruit Market to be presented from 12 noon to 9:30 p. m. Wednesday at the Simpson Garden Center. Open and free to the public, the market display is being sponsored by the Council of Garden Clubs of Greater Miami, under the direction of Mrs. S. W. Younghans, president. Dr. Taylor Alexander of the University of Miami will have a display of fruitwoods and rare woods. Dr. A. L. Stahl also of the University will display frozen fruits. From the University of Florida, Dr. George D. Ruehle will display subtropical fruits. From Coral Gables Garden Club Mrs. L. C. Olson and Mrs. Kenneth Goodrich will have an arrangement of tropical fruits and Coral Gables' own Roy Page will have a large display of fruits.
TWO COUPLES SAY VOWS Littles and Cooks Wed in Catholic Ceremonies
SISTER AND BROTHER acting as attendants at each other's wedding, and married five days apart, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Stuart Cook, Jr., right, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Little, 3rd, left, perform the age-old custom of cutting their wedding cakes. Sister Weds First Choosing June 15 as her wedding date, Miss Frances Elizabeth Little became the bride of Duncan Stuart Cook, Jr., in a double ring ceremony at the rectory of the Church of the Little Flower. Maid-of-honor for the bride was Miss Eileen Donohue of New York, fiancee of Robert Little 3rd, brother of the bride who was best man for Mr. Cook. Miss Deloris Poole was the soloist and Miss Mildred Eaton the accompanist. A reception followed at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Robert Little, Jr., 1237 Ferdland Street. The bride's mother wore a navy blue crepe with white accessories and a corsage of white camellias. The mother of the bridegroom was attired in gray crepe with pink and white accessories and camellias corsage. The bride is a graduate of Ponce de Leon High School. Mr. Cook is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan S. Cook of Monroe, Louisiana. He attended Louisiana Polytech College and Louisiana State before entering the Navy where he served four years, two overseas. He is now a student at the University of Miami and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Among out-of-town guests were Mr. Cook's paternal aunt Miss Grace Cook, also his maternal aunt Mrs. Milling Bernstein all of Monroe, La., and Mrs. William R. Little Sr. of New York City, grandmother of the bride. June 21, the Day Mr. and Mrs. William Robert Little 3rd will reside in their new home west of Coral Gables following their June 21st marriage, and honeymoon trip. Choosing her sister-in-law of five days, Mrs. Duncan Stuart Cook Jr., as her matron of honor for the marriage and the nuptial mass at the Church of the Little Flower, the former Miss Eileen Donohue wore a street length dress of white crepe and gardenia corsage. John Tripp was best man for Mr. Little. Rev. Thomas Comber officiated. Mrs. Little is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Donohue of New York City. John H. Barclay and Robert Scobee seated the guests and Catherine Elder and Cuthbert Taylor were singers. Mildred Eaton presided at the organ. A reception at the Little home followed the ceremony. Both the bride and groom are graduates of Ponce de Leon High school. Mr. Little attended Columbia University in New York City and served in the Merchant Marines for 1 1/2 years during the war.
