CORAL GABLES - COUNTRY CLUBBER
By GORDON TAYLOR It is the intention of your manager to run your club the way you would like to have it. The response to various appeals to members to work out programs everyone will enjoy has been gratifying and the time they are spending to make your club worthwhile for now and for the future shows unlimited depths of loyalty. Included in these programs will be some especially designed for the juniors. There is talk of a real circus for the kiddies on the patio some fine day soon, ending up that evening with a travelogue picture conducted by the photographic group. Photographic Group At a meeting of the photographic committee last Monday, Fred Jones and his fellow enthusiasts decided to have an evening of pleasure for all the members Tuesday evening at 8 p.m., August 5th. They will have travelogue, comic and other films that will entertain you shown on a screen set up in front of the bandshell. The group will meet again tonight at 8 p.m. at the club. Be sure and turn out for this and also bring along your favorite prints for questions and answers. Start now taking pictures for the first photographic show to be held the last week of September. Confine lighting to two lights with two reflectors allowed. Do not worry about equipment as they will arrange the use of equipment and dark room. We had to get this in too early to get the first plans of the art group with Mrs. J. Allen Smith as chairman and Cy Washburn as co-chairman. Much to do about that later. Ten Dances Beginning a new program of entertainment, this coming Sunday will be the first of a regular Sunday afternoon schedule of tea dances from 4 to 6 p.m. Music will be by Cy Washburn in the patio area in front of the dining room, terrace. I hope you will enjoy it. Meet the Wife The theatre group has come up with another swell show in "Meet the Wife." Bob Bakke is the director with Gwyn Tuckerman as co-director. Meetings were held Tuesday and Thursday nights with another coming up tonight, which should see the casting completed and the production under way the first of the week. "Meet The Wife" is now set up, for the nights of September 2nd, 4th and 5th, so get your reservations in early. This hilarious show promises to be another hit. Dance Group Monday night, this coming one (up the 28th) is the first meeting of the dance group headed by that number one club dancer, Tom Duff. The program, as Tom has outlined it to me, will be fascinating for you members interested in dancing. The history of certain dances will be discussed, and the programming of dance contests in cooperation with the entertainment committees, are two items on their immediate agenda. You members who indicated interest in dancing will get great sport from participating on this committee. Our first big affair as arranged by the members on the Tournaments and Trophies committee will be next Wednesday when East meets West and South meets North during the Convention of the States. Even if you don't wear a costume, be sure and wear an arm band indicating your native state. When calling Charles for reservations be sure and reserve your table by the name of the state you will represent. Mrs. Bliss and her committee has promised a full evening of entertainment, precipitation permitting perhaps, and regardless. The All-Florida buffet will be of many varied dishes designed to please the most discriminating. Calendar Friday, July 25 - Rotary Club luncheon 12:15 p. m. Civic Room.
