Frog Hollow Said 'Normal' After Storm
By MARY HICKEY Riviera-Times Correspondent The past week found Frog Hollow "sunning" itself and settling down to a normal routine after its encounter with "Dil-Emma" last Sat-urday. For the second time in one season we had a chance to see that community spirit working and to know the satisfaction of having "good neighbors." Grady Crawford was in Orlando at a court hearing at the time of the storm, but his wife and small daughter, Lee, were well taken care of by the Frog Hollowites. Radios Aid Fran Hickey had to be in Miami that evening and returned to find that Drs. Schmitt and Coleman had severely tied up his awnings and gathered in the various items that might have blown away! Wish we could find that the folks up at Lake Success operated on the same kind of good fellowship basis With so many communities suffering from floods, it behooves us to be extra thankful that Frog Hollow is sitting high and dry— and to extend our services in any way we can to help those who have been less fortunate. On the Sick List We were sorry to learn that Baby Linda McCormick, six weeks' old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale McCormick of S. W. 59th Ave. is in Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment. Latest reports are that she is doing nicely and will soon be home again. Visitors from the North Among the visitors fleeing the cooler climates are Mr. and Mrs. Wahl of Cleveland, Ohio who are vacationing here with their daughter, Mrs. William McKitterick of S. W. 60th Ave. Another visitor who arrived just in time for our second hurricane was your correspondent's father, Peter F. Brennan of Trenton, New Jersey. Mr. Brennan hurried down to join his wife, who has been visiting here for a month and to meet his new granddaughter. Moving Day We learned from Attorney Ray Dekle of S. W. 60th Avenue that he has just recently moved his offices to a new location in the Ingraham Building, where he is associated with Attorney M. Lewis Hall. Here's to good luck in your new quarters, Hal. Meet Your Neighbors We've been intrigued for quite some time by the name "Babee Tenda" on one of the mailboxes down on 64th Avenue — so the other night we paid a visit to Mr. and Mrs. John T. Moore, 3805 S. W. 64th Place to find out what it meant with so many new babies in the neighborhood, we know you'll all be more than interested in the outcome of our visit. Mr. Moore and his father, Jack P. Moore, are partners in the business of distributing the Babee Tenda Safety Chair — a truly remarkable piece of furniture as far as your correspondent is concerned. We received a practical demonstration by the Moore's 8 months' old son, John T. Jr., and we must say we were quite impressed. Mr. Moore came here originally from Michigan, and his parents of Lansing, Michigan are currently making their home here with the younger Moore's until they can locate a place of their own. Mr. Moore was a naval aviator during the war and is still active in the organized reserve. Mrs. Moore is a former Californian, and when she is not busy with her small son, devotes her time to painting, a hobby in which she is quite an expert.

'Lower No-Man's Land' Flooded by Storm Water
By DOT THAGARD Riviera-Times Correspondent After the reminiscences of last week about flood conditions in 1928 we find that history has been repeating itself. With barely a leaf gone from the shrubs, we awoke Sunday to look down the street at the inundated 600's. From the 600 block of Obispo to the west end of the 500 block of Madiera (you, who are uninitiated, it is the same street) the storm really left it's tears. While the water did not go into the homes, the yards were transferred from lovely landscaped lawns into lake-like vistas. All morning the residents of the block were pushing out their automobiles and the roar of motors filled the air. During the day traffic became a problem, as sight-seers thronged the area — everyone seemed to have advice to offer but no one could say how to get rid of the heavy dew! Peacock Used Boat Kirk Peacock of 608 Obispo launched his boat and went from house to house ferrying neighbors back and forth, and forth, and giving aid where and when it was needed. The Peacocks also kept the coffee brewing for those who were without cooking facilities. Buddy Dawson, son of the Braden F. Dawson's, at 542 Madeira, inflated his rubber life raft to do his best in helping his neighbors. Bob and Audrey Hanna of 604 Obispo watched the water creep close to their home and during the height of the storm saw that water rise nine inches in five minutes. It was an hour's hard work Sunday morning, with the help of wonderful neighbors, for the Hanna's to get their car out and started again. Youngsters Have Fun Youngsters from far and near started a spirited contest to see who could ride their bikes through the "great big puddle" without floundering. The newsboy drew cheers from everyone as he came through with his load of Sunday papers (but we still can't understand how his papers stayed dry). The milk man was stopped and warned so he cheerfully took off his shoes and waded in to deliver his wares. The amazing thing about it all, is how everyone stayed so cheerful and acted as though the joke was all on them. We are all glad the water is down now and hope that it never will be repeated — but on to a happier item — Mrs. William Garrison of Fort Myers, with brand new daughter, Gaynell, is staying with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Cauley, at 540 Avenue Zamora. The youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Garrison was named for her maternal grandmother, Mrs. E. H. Padgett, on whose birthday Gaynell was born, so the congratulations were very much in order on October 4th. The Garrison's have two other daughters, Pamela Jo, age 4, and eighteen-month-old Nardis.
Here's a foursome that frolies through the tune-filled, Technicolored "Mother Wore Tights" which will be at the Parkway Theatre Friday thru Monday, Oct. 17-20. THEY'RE BETTY GRABLE, MONA FREEMAN, DAN DAILEY, and CONNIE MARSHALL.
Can't Win 'Em All
The University of Miami had its most successful football season with nine victories and one loss in 1945, and suffered its most defeats (eight) in 1931, winning four games. They have won 100 games, lost 69 and tied 12 through 1946. For ten years no University of Miami ball carrier has come within 225 yards of matching Eddie Dunn's record 714 net yards gained in 1937.

Mr. and Mrs. Alpheus Collins and Mrs. Collins' sister, Mrs. Charles W. Cross, have returned to their home, 1231 Avenue Catalonia after spending several weeks at the Palm Circle Villas, Daytona Beach.
