The Todds, Newlyweds, Honeymoon at Palm Beach

MRS. HUGH TODD On a honeymoon trip to Palm Beach are Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Parker Todd, whose wedding took place Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, North Miami. The bride is the former Carolyn A. Reiff of 20 Zamora Ave. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Reiff of Bethpage, Long Island, N.Y., who were here for the wedding. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth P. Todd, 1120 NW 75th St. For her wedding, the bride chose a bouffant floor length silk organza over taffeta gown, with appliqued white taffeta piping, which also was used on the scoop neckline and bracelet length sleeves. Her bouffant, shoulder length veil fell from a crown of satin flowers and seed pearls, and she carried a white Bible topped with white orchid and stephanotis. Miss Joan Bredlau of Miami was maid of honor and only attendant. She wore a gold silk taffeta bouffant gown with matching accessories and carried a cascade of lavender, purple and white carnations. James Leman of Orlando was best man. Ushers were Karl Reiff, brother of the bride; Carl Todd, brother of the groom; and Daryl Hackbart and Maurice La France, friends of the groom. The Rev. James Bouman officiated at the 8 p.m. candlelight ceremony and the reception followed in the church lounge, where the bride and groom greeted some 200 guests. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Reiff wore a petal pink silk organza sheath with pink lace peplum. Mother of the groom was in royal blue lace sheath. Both matrons wore orchids. Soloist at the wedding was Harry Schaefer of Miami. The benediction was sung by the Miami Lutheran Chorus, an acappella choir of which the bride and groom are members. The bride is a graduate of the University of Maimi and is media director of the J. Walter Thompson Company of Coral Gables. The groom graduated at Miami Jackson High School and attended Concordia Lutheran College, St. Paul, Minn. He is a Marine Corps veteran and is with the Florida State Road Department.

MRS. MILLER If it hadn't been for a broken back, Mrs. Georgia H. Miller, who this week was named chairman of the new Country Club of Miami Ladies Golf Association, would never have taken up golf. But doctor's orders at the time of the automobile accident in Chicago, forbade any more skiing, tennis, skating or bowling, for athletic-minded Georgia. After her husband's death in 1942, Georgia moved to Coral Gables (Zamora Ave.) and later to South Miami where she presently lives at 620 SW 56th Ave. However, up to that time she had played in golf tournaments on the Biltmore Hotel and Country Club's 18 hole course under the ownership of the late Col. Henry L. Doherty. She is president of the Tri-County (Broward, Dade and Palm Beach) low-handicap women golfers, and a former president of the Miami Women's Golf Association, the first club she joined on moving to Florida. She is a former women's champion of the Canoe Brook Country Club in Short Hills, N.J. She is also a member of the Coral Gables, Palmetto, and Biltmore Women's Golf Associations, also the Kings Bay Yacht and Country Club where she is president and chairman of its Women's Golf Association. Incidentally, the new Miami Club will have two 18-hole courses, the East course to open in mid-December along with the clubhouse. However, Georgia is taking a breather from golf come Oct. 21st. She plans to fly to Chicago to hear and see her nephew, Robert Hall, 21, a tenor who has the lead in the road show of "Once Upon a Mattress." Hall is with the Music Theatre Inc., in New York City.
