60 Cartageneros To Return Here For April Visit

Approximately 60 visitors from Cartagena, Colombia, are scheduled to arrive in Coral Gables April 26 on their return visit in connection with the People to People Program. The date is a tentative one. The Cartageneros would leave April 29 after spending a week-end in Coral Gables. Final plans for entertaining the South American visitors have not jelled, but a tour of local schools, the port, Hialeah race track and the Gables are on the itinerary. The last time a group of Cartageneros came to Coral Gables was in 1960. Last year, a group of Gableites visited Cartagena for the second time in connection with the exchange program. Cartagena became Coral Gables' sister city in the exchange program shortly after it was set up at the request of the Eisenhower administration in 1958. The former President now heads the national program.

Another Trujillo Hovers at Death

Jose Garcia Trujillo, nephew of the late Dominican Republic dictator, Rafael Trujillo, is reported in "critical" condition at Doctors' Hospital where he is recovering from a self-inflicted bullet wound in the head. According to Coral Gables police, Trujillo, 51, of 2200 Brickell Ave., Miami, shot himself the night of Jan. 18 with a powerful pistol at the residence of Louis Ruiz, of 11 Alhambra Plaza, Apt. 45. Trujillo was found lying face down on a bed in the apartment by Officer Henry Porterfield after being summoned by Ruiz. Ruiz told Porterfield that he and Trujillo had been to the home of Luis Rafael Trujillo, 2415 Indian Mound Trail, and that Jose Garcia Trujillo had insisted on visiting his apartment afterward. While there they had a few drinks and Trujillo excused himself to go to the bathroom. A shot was heard and Ruiz said he found Trujillo shot through the head. The bullet from the powerful .357 Magnum revolver, owned by Luis Rafael Trujillo, went through the lower jaw and out between the victim's eyes. Police said the gun had been obtained from a bedroom where Luis Rafael Trujillo kept it close at hand. The Trujillo family recently left the Dominican Republic following the assassination of the Gen. Trujillo and a series of coups.
