Her Living (And Working) Surrounded by Art
By TONY STROBINO Correspondent A little lady who likes art, built herself a combination home and art gallery and is currently showing the works of some 28 New York artists here. Mrs. Peter Fiolic owner of Rudolph Galleries, 336 Sevilla Ave., has returned for the season from Woodstock, N.Y. where she ran an art show for six months. Mrs. Fiolic represents American artists, including Milton Avery and Sigmund Menkes. Her "living room" is a gallery showing abstract landscapes of Avery and impressionistic flower compositions by Menkes. The patio of Mrs. Fiolic's home is a sculpture garden with works of such sculptors as Nathaniel Kaz and Hannah Small. Mrs. Fiolic and her husband Rudolph, who died in 1956, got started in the art business back in 1939. They ran an antique shop in New York and used paintings as decorations. She and her husband, who was an art dealer, came to Florida in 1953 for health reasons and opened an art gallery on Miracle Mile. In 1956 Mr. and Mrs. Fiolic built the present Rudolph Galleries on Sevilla Avenue into a home and combination art gallery. Today Mrs. Fiolic runs the art gallery alone and keeps it open for six months during the winter.
Arvida Rezoning Deferred Again
The proposal of Arvida Realty Co. to rezone three large tracts of land off the Palmetto Expressway between SW 89th and SW 92nd Streets was deferred for the second time by the Metro Zoning Appeals Board Dec. 17. More time was asked by the zoning department to study the proposal. The development firm seeks changes in zoning from agricultural to permit the construction of garden type apartments and multi-family dwellings.
