Sarah Snare Weds Palmetto H.S. Teacher
MRS. RICHARD DOWLING Sarah Frances Snare, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Austin Snare, 10901 SW 60th Ave., became the bride of Richard O'Neil Dowling, 9620 SW 164th St., Dec. 22 in a double-ring ceremony in the Riviera Presbyterian Church. The groom is the son of Mrs. Mercedes O'Neil Dowling of Pittsburgh, Pa., and the late Frank A. Dowling. The bride's gown was of candlelight peau de soie and had a chapel-length train. The neckline was edge with re-embroidered Alencon lace and accentuated with seed pearls. The French illusion fingertip veil fell from a crown of tiny flowers. Her bouquet was a cascade of lilies of the valley, white cattaleyas and phalanopsis orchids. The attendants' gowns were electric blue velveteen with scooped necklines, bell-shaped skirts and elbow-length sleeves. Their crescent-shaped bouquets were of white sweetheart roses touched with blue and accentuated with blue flock maiden's hair. Mrs. Holt V. Garrard was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jacqueline Eads, Mrs. R. Layton Mank, Mrs. Robert C. Seals, and Bunny Joan Swanson. The best man was Kenneth Lee Ryskamp. Ushers were Frank A. Dowling, John Lepore, Robert Snare and Ronald Walker. The bride is a graduate of Florida State University. The groom attended Washington and Jefferson College and the University of Miami. The couple met when both were teaching at Palmetto High School. After a wedding trip to Stowe, Vt., the Dowlings will be at home at 9620 SW 164th St.
PEOPLE Places & Things
Helen Reynolds, former society editor of THE TIMES, is in Doctors' Hospital. She went in Dec. 18 for a checkup after having a fainting spell at her home, 3800 Toledo St. "After 1,000 X-rays," as Helen described it, the doctors determined she has gallstones, which are not serious enough though to merit an operation. She is on the same floor as her brother, Arthur, who has been there since last summer. So she is able to visit him each day and they have dinner together each evening. Helen has no idea when she will be permitted to return home. Marilyn Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Jensen, 831 Capri St., is home for the holidays from Florida State University where she is a sophomore majoring in early childhood development. She is also a member of Kappa Delta sorority. The Jensens also have a grandson Ronald Keithley Harper Jr. He weighed six pounds, 12 ounces. His father is the forest ranger in Columbia County. His mother Ann is a 1956 graduate of Coral Gables High School and a 1960 graduate of the University of Georgia. He was born Dec. 1 at 2:34 a.m. at the Lake Wales Hospital, which was also the night of the big storm in Jacksonville; and when Mrs. Jensen tried to get a plane there, she was warned that the plane might not land in Jacksonville and she could very well end up in Washington, D.C. She had 45 minutes to get down town and catch a train which went to Jacksonville. There she transferred to a bus arriving at Lake Wales at 10 a.m.
