Venetian Aquatic Club To Be Honored For Work
The Venetian Pool Aquatic Club, of which Mrs. Ray Perry is president, will be guest group at the Jim Dooley Brunch at Suniland Wednesday, April 12, at 9:30 a.m. The program will be broadcast from 10 to 11 a.m. The club is comprised of 70 members, mostly mothers belonging to the Parent-Teacher Associations of at least 15 schools in the Coral Gables-South Dade area, all interested in promoting water safety for Dade County children. Fifteen hundred children were taught to swim by this group last year in its 10-week summer program. All the members participate in one way or another, although not all of them are swimming teachers. There are 24 qualified Red Cross water safety instructors among the members. Their 20-hour training course for teaching mothers how to teach children water safety, begins May 2, with sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at Venetian Pool. The 10-week program for children commences on or about June 12. The April 12 cash award given by the Merchants Association of Suniland Shopping Center will be used toward financing the club's water safety program.
Flower Show
The Suburban Garden Club will hold a member flower show following their 10 a.m. business meeting April 11 in the home of Mrs. Robert Johnston, 5871 SW 83rd Street. Members will bring completed flower arrangement for judging by Helen Miller, florist. Prizes will be awarded for the three top arrangements. The election of officers also is on the agenda.
