Palmetto Seniors Plan Show
By EUNICE TALL School Correspondent The Senior Class is planning a third performance to help raise money for its project of a senior patio at Palmetto High School. The new show is to be called "Faculty Frolics" and will be held May 5 at the auditorium. About 200 people attended the musical show given Thursday of last week. The Zumbyes, a vocal group from Amherst College, Amherst, Mass., sang. They were here on spring vacation. Brenda Muhlinghaus, class secretary, contacted them about performing. Safe Driving Dewayne Darnell, sophomore, represented Palmetto in the Safe Driving Rodeo held in Jacksonville last month. He earned his trip by placing first in the Palmetto safe driving contest in Cutler Ridge Shopping Center and in the Dade and Monroe Counties contest later. As a result of the state contest Dewayne placed sixth. For his achievement he was awarded a transistor radio and a $10 check. In the Palmetto contest he received a watch and trophy. Ralph Knudson and Dennis Ritchie came in second and third respectively, in the Palmetto contest. Members of the Palmetto Key Club who represented PHS in the Key Club International Convention last month in Jacksonville were seniors Michael Street, Emerson Moran, Don Lane, Roger Olson and Charles Gitomer.
