Dust Off Your Past As the Years Roll Back

By EUNICE TALL Correspondent Phone MO 1-2294 Installation service for new officers for the Southwest High School Parent Teacher Student Association will be held May 2 at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium. Officers to be installed are Mrs. Percy Nunnery, president; Mrs. Irving Floyd, first vice president; Mr. John Sojat, second vice president; Miss Juliet Heisser (student), third vice president. Mrs. Caroline Conkin, recording secretary; Mrs. Vincent Faix, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Shirley Klein, treasurer. SM ELEMENTARY The next PTA meeting for South Miami Elementary School will be May 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafetorium. New officers for the PTA will be installed at this meeting by Mrs. Jean Groves, past South Miami Elementary School PTA president who is now serving on the Dade County PTA Council. The officers are: Mrs. Robert Feevers, president; Mrs. Ernest Graver, first vice president; Mrs. Andrew Nettlow, second vice president. Mrs. R. G. Huffman, third vice president; Mrs. Jack Luffman, recording secretary; Mrs. M. A. Owen, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. H. J. Maguire, treasurer. Children's school work will also be on display this evening. SYLVANIA HEIGHTS Sylvania Heights Elementary School PTA will present a musical show entitled "Follies," which will be shown May 13 at 8 p.m. in the Southwest High School auditorium, 8855 SW 50th Ter. The cast is composed of 100 parents, teachers, and students. This performance was written and produced by Mrs. Fran Dayan, PTA member. Directors are Mrs. Joan Katz, Mrs. Judy Robinson, Mrs. Winona Unick, Mrs. Fran Dayan, and Gwen Mahler from Gwen's School of Dance. Tickets are 50 cents each. They may be obtained Monday and Wednesday morning in the school office or by contacting Mrs. Winona Unick at MO 1-7381. Profits will be used to buy stage curtains for the school cafetorium.

Eunice Tall, our Palmetto High School correspondent, is one of the school's new cheerleaders. She's the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Murry Tall, 7435 104th St. and a sophomore at the school. Eunice also is The Guide's PTA correspondent.

Gross Notches 2nd In Spelling Bee

Leslie Gross, Gables' entrant in The Miami Herald county spelling bee, placed second in a field of 44. Leslie, a senior, lost in a run-off round to Robert Hunter, Ransom School. Both boys had perfect scores in the 50-word written and 10-round oral tests. To break the tie, each was given a 10-word written test. Robert missed only three, whereas Gross, last year's champion, erred on four.

Flagami Teachers Strut Tonight in Musical Show

"Flaggantics," a musical trip around the world, will be presented by the teachers of Flagami Elementary School at 8 p.m. today (Thursday), in the school cafetorium. The all-teacher cast will visit in song and dance 15 countries. The play will be presented in two acts and seven scenes. Countries included in the musical trip will be France, Ireland, Egypt, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Japan, India, Brazil and Mexico. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children. Proceeds will go for the Teacher Welfare and Hospitality fund.

Willard's Daughter Due Here

Mr. and Mrs. Ira F. Willard of Catalonia Avenue will be welcoming their daughter, Elizabeth, and husband, Paul D. Willis III, and family of three children in June. Willis, who will be a June graduate from the Iowa State University's School of Medicine, will do his interning at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Young Willis is "matched" for his internship, something new in hospital training and is very happy about his appointment, Mr. Willard said. The Willises were married in Alexandria, Va., when the Willards lived there before coming to Coral Gables. Their children are five, three, and one-year-old.
