New Parking Policy In Works?

A new policy designed to "keep the stores occupied and the merchants happy," is being worked out between the new City Commission and the Chamber of Commerce. Mayor Robert L. Searle got backing on two ideas: To add pennies in overtime parking meters to give on-street violators an extra minutes before ticketing. To have a manned parking lot off Miracle Mile. Searle is to discuss the plan with the Retail Merchants Division members and other Chamber members to get support for the plan before it is put into effect.

God's Power

By NEIL WYRICK Palmetto Presbyterian Pastor Happiness lies not so much in the things you have but in the things you do. Peace of mind comes not so much from pills half so much as pulling your own load in the race of life. The load you can do or are able to do may be small, but are you doing even this? Too many, because they cannot jump over the fence, will not even take the effort to jump over the line. Too many just sit and sulk, sit and cry, sit and complain, and spend their life in a seated position wondering why life is passing them by. As long as you have a mind to think with, a heart to feel with, a soul to know God with, there is a job for you to do. It is not a lack of jobs and destiny that makes men and women do nothing. It is a lack of real honest desire. Happiness lies not so much in the things you have, but in the things you do, the things you are, the magic parcel of activity that can come from caring about somebody besides yourself.
