South Miami Taps 2 Firms for Work On Utility Survey

South Miami Council Tuesday night chose not one but two engineering firms to conduct a sanitary sewer and natural gas feasibility survey. Chosen were Allen, Hosbell, Smalley, Wellford & Nalveen, of Memphis and Sarasota, and Stieglitz, Assoc. of South Miami. The two firms joined forces to get the $4,800 engineering contract. A total of four firms bid for the job which is slated completed in some 60 days. Two weeks ago the Council tabled the naming of the city's choice because Council members could not reach a decision. The Council is considering putting in a sewage disposal system. Natural gas installations, which have reached the city limits, may be made while the streets are being excavated for the sewage system. This is the reason for the feasibility report.

Dear Editor

EDITOR: The students of the West Miami Junior High School have prepared a most interesting and educational display which we are presently using in our bank lobby. It consists of various collections of marine life, written research reports and artistic safety slogans. During these troubled times, it is most gratifying to realize that some of our teenagers are still studying the mysteries of life and trying to become useful young citizens. I just thought perhaps this display would be of interest to the readers in our area. Fred W. Salisbury, Assistant Cashier, Merchants Bank
