Buzzes From Bowling
By LEE McNEELY Correspondent The big games were in great number at the Bowl-O-Mat last week. In our Monday Morning Welcome Wagon League, the ladies were all out to bowl good. Lou Miller had a 189 game, Ruth Steinburg a 183, Artie Watson an even 200. This was Artie's first 200 game. In the Dixiecrats Mixed League, Ned Barlow rolled a 225 for a 628 set. Ronnie Gillotte, bowling for Dino's Restaurant, had a 206 game for a 538 set. Ted Wayne had a 225 game for a 564 set. Ted bowls for the Kendall Gulf Team. On the Velda Dairy team, G. Waterhouse had a 201 for a 541 set. Joe Massimo is still blasting the maples for a 215, 204, 190 for a 608 set. Roy Yvars had a 223 for a 594 set. In the Metro Mixed League, Jill Dripps had a 203 game for a 599 hdcp. set, Lloyd Williams a 200 for a 537 set. Lloyd bowls for Hialeah Lumber. Des Tulare rolled a 210 game. I get in the news sometimes too; I rolled a 204 game for a 554 set. Both Des and I bowl for Dixie Fence. John Turinsky, secretary of the Bay Glades League, had a 255 game for a 618 set. Henry Yeager on the Jerome Taudte Paint Team had a 206 for a 557 set, Ray Williams a 543 set. Don Roop, bowling for Hi Way Inn, rolled a 208 for a 563 set. The Kensington Furniture Team was out to win, and that they did. They took four points from the H.A.R.G. Enterprises team. To help them along, Hank Myer blasted out a 277 game for a 652 set. Tom Shields a 225 for a 567 set. All totaled, the team had a 3,084 set. Red Mitchell, who has been a little under the weather lately, is getting back in the groove. He rolled a 201, 194, 200 for a 595 set. C. T. Carter is getting back in the groove also, he had a 536 set. Both Red and C. T. bowl for Suniland Shoe Repair. Don Schang on the Clutter Const. Team rolled a 559 set. Carl Hill, bowling for Lindy's Rest, had a 208 for a 553 set. On the William T. Martin Insurance Team, Padge Cole had a 202 game for a 575 set. L. Edward blasted a 245 game for a 524 set. S. Swain on Mickey's Lounge Team rolled a 242 game for a 621 set. In the South Miami Elks League, Bob Leonard had a 202 for a 565 set. Ed Harmon a 208 for a 561 set. Hank Foundas rolled a 215 for a 542 set, Ray Mack had an even 200 game. Maurice Sarles got a 545 set. Roy Werntz had a 241 game for a 577 set. Kay Bennett bowling on the Chaplins Team had a 656 hdcp. set.
Youth Center Programs For All / Want to Fence? Write? Come On
If you like your sports indoors, — If your recreation leans on the hobby side — Then the Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center probably is the place for you. The adult program includes a diversified list of activities such as judo, ballroom dancing, ceramics, Spanish, tropical crafts, clothing selection, fencing, creative writing, bridge lessons, piano, art workshop and chess, to name a few. Located at 400 Anastasia, near the intersections of University Drive and Le Jeune Road, the Youth Center represents a half-million dollar investment. Jeannette Hunt, the director, has arranged an activities schedule to suit young and old. The modern center, which is the focus of recreational activity for many persons, is open for adults Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Children's programs are scheduled from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday. It's 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Children under 14 are discouraged from using the center in the evening. The center is also open all day during public school holidays, except Christmas, New Year's, July 4, Labor Day and Thanksgiving. Some activities at the Youth Center require a fee. Some are based on membership and others are on a lesson basis. Full information about all the activities carried on at the Youth Center and the fees may be obtained at the center. Attending Conference
Miss Margaret M. Beaton, city librarian, and members of the staff, will attend the annual conference of the Florida Library Association today (Thursday) through Saturday at Miami Beach. The library will be open.

The school is also ideally located for students relying upon bus transportation. Counselors are on duty from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday to help students plan their educational programs.
