Highest Cost Permit Is For Air-Conditioning

Permits were issued for two homes to be built in South Miami during July. The other 49 permits were for a variety of miscellaneous reasons, the largest of which was air conditioning. Building for South Miami through July was $1,238,709. This contrasts $2,030,157 for the same period last year. The city calculates its figures from October forward. Home builders were Fred Acker, 6101 SW 58th St., residence and pool, $19,500; and D. Guttenmacher, 6111 SW 64th Ave., $21,000. 2 Airmen, A Captain End School

Three men from the Southwest area recently completed Air Force training programs. They are Airman Clarence Moody Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Moody, 6900 SW 22 St.; and Airman Howard Phillips, son of Mrs. Alice Brown of 6536 SW 33 St., who have completed their initial courses at Lackland AFB, Tex. Capt. William J. Lewis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Lewis, 9195 Sunset Dr., was recently graduated from the 43-week Communications Officer course at Keesler AFB, Miss. Airman Moody, a graduate of Southwest High School, has been selected to attend the technical training course for aircraft and missile repairmen at Sheppard AFB, Tex. Airman Phillips will go to Keesler to study radio and radar maintenance. Captain Lewis will be stationed in Korea. He is married to the former Jean Cranfill of Roscoe, Tex., and has two children, Stephanie Gay, 5, and Laurie Lynn, 2.
