Night School Registration Is Open at Miami High

The Miami Senior High Adult Education Center, 2450 SW First St., announces that registration is now open for the 16-week fall semester, Sept. 5, through Dec. 20, 1961. Adults may register for classes by going to the school between the hours of 2 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The registration fee is $2 for each class. Most of the classes at the Miami Senior High Adult Center meet twice weekly from 7 to 10 p.m. The total educational program includes work toward high school diplomas, business education (accounting, shorthand, Stenoscript, typewriting, office machines, stocks and bonds, and business law), foreign languages (Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Russian), insurance, management development, and general adult courses such as psychology, creative writing, painting, and refresher courses in reading, mathematics and English. Counselors are on duty from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday to assist students in planning their educational programs. Library and cafeteria facilities are also provided for the adult students. Additional information about the adult classes at the Miami High Center may be obtained by telephoning the school, HI 3-5226 or HI 3-9341 between 2:00 and 9:30 p.m.

They Want Old Books For School

The Miami Christian School, a Protestant non-denominational school which includes kindergarten through senior high, needs books for its library. The school will sponsor a used book drive, Sept. 4-6. They need all types of books, both religious and secular. Their chief need is for historical, scientific and reference books along with good fiction. Arrangements for the books to be picked up at the donor's home almost anytime during the above dates have been made. For pick-up call CA 1-7754 or PL 9-0791. Now in its eighth year, the school has an enrollment of over 400 students, representing more than 80 different churches all over the southwest Florida area.
