Buzzes From Bowling

By LEE McNEELY Correspondent The Dixiecrats' mixed bowling here on Monday nights are really on a see-saw, everyone taking turns at being the first place team. It is still anybody's title; they are that closely matched. Kay Bennett is really hitting the sticks this summer, bowling in the 500 bracket consistently. Besides being a contender for honors in the Dixiecrats, Kay ended up third in her division in the Ladies Petersen Point Singles. Sara Turner, secretary of the Dixiecrats, bowled a 193 — 524 set. Dr. John Martin knocked down 241 hunks of maple, nice going, John. Hope to see many more good games. In the Thursday night Men's Handicap League, Des Tulare with a 212, Hank Foundas — 201 and Bill Boyer a pretty 243. In our Early Bird League on Thursday morning, Peggy Weiss was really hitting the pocket, Peggy rolled games of 245-189-177 for a 611. This is her first 600 — Welcome to the "600" Club, Peg. In the South Dixie Ladies Petersen Point Singles, the winners were: Class A—Connie Anderson, Class B—Lil du Brucq, and Class C—Dittie Funke. The gals really had some good scores this summer, and it was a terrific league, and all the girls really enjoyed the Petersen Point League. Today (Thursday) Pauline Stickler and Bob White will be here for the Advance Clinic to be conducted by Bowl-O-Mat. The clinic will run for two weeks on Monday and Thursday nights at 8 p.m. The instruction will be free; the only cost will be for the bowling. The hour is late enough to accommodate women and men after their working hours are over. Don't forget our Fourth Annual Labor Day Week-End Tournament. Men's Doubles based on 70% of 210, Mixed Doubles, Ladies handicap based on 70% of 200. Tournament starts at 9 p.m. Friday. Runs until 12 midnight Monday.
