CG Sales Clinic to Stress Oomph; First Is Sept. 20
Two hundred and 50 salespeople are expected to enroll in a sales clinic to be conducted for four Wednesday mornings in September and October here. The sessions will be held in the Miracle Theater and last for one hour. Registrants — the course is $2.50 for the entire four meetings—will get a how-to-merchandise course from some master merchandisers. The clinic, whose chairman is Sam Miller, is being sponsored by the Retail Merchants Division of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. The dates are Wednesdays, Sept. 20, 27, Oct. 4 and 11. Working with the Buyer-Seller Committee of the Rotary Club, the clinic conductors will stage a Courtesy Contest to run concurrently. Here's how it will work: Each week during the four weeks, an employe will be selected as the top in courtesy, service and sales approach and will be given a $50 savings bond. The customer recommending him will receive a $25 bond. Customers will make their nominations on a courtesy coupon to be dropped in a box in Gables stores. Says Miller of the clinic itself: "Our purpose is to re-emphasize the basic fundamental plans of selling merchandise and being courteous, obliging and friendly. "Our aim is to have every business concern in Coral Gables, whether they belong to the Chamber of Commerce or not, participate in this program, which is designed to bring about realization on the part of customers in our area that Coral Gables is the place to shop." Coffee and doughnuts will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 7:55 each Wednesday preceding the meeting. A schedule of topics and dates will be included in the Times next month.
