Sorority Votes to Offer College Scholarships

Plans for extensive educational and welfare projects were made at the first fall meeting of Mu Chapter, Alpha Delta Kappa, last night (Wednesday) at the home of the new president, Mrs. Harry Tysinger, 9047 SW 67th Ave. The chapter will join with others in the area in offering scholarships for college freshmen and sophomores. Continuing chapter projects include assistance to the Pine Cove School for emotionally disturbed children and to the Bradley Home for unteachable children. Other chapter officers are vice president, Mrs. Walton Manning; recording secretary, Miss June Inman; corresponding secretary, Mrs. Wallace Firestone; chaplains, Mrs. Leila Jennings, Mrs. Rose Calvin; historian, Mrs. Julian E. Moore; sergeant-at-arms, Mrs. Rebecca Wells. The national sorority voted to give five $1,000 scholarships to foreign students in their last year of teacher training in the United States. It also gives five $250 scholarships as honorary recognition to outstanding Kappans who are doing advanced work.
