DEAR SANTA CLAUS, Well, Santa, here it is about that time of year again and I suppose you're pretty busy about now stuffing toys and other gifts into your bags and loading up the sleigh for your annual journey along the rooftops. Yes, the kiddies, as always, will have a wonderful Christmas. There will be electric trains, dolls, games, footballs, baseballs and fireman's suits for the young-uns. They'll know you've been there when they awaken on Christmas morning. But, Santa, this note is an open letter to you from some of the adults of the South and West Dade areas, where we live. No one else hereabouts will tell you what these individuals or groups want or need for Christmas, so I'll take it upon myself to do it. WEST DADE RESIDENTS — Santa, they dearly need a state or national bank. They either have to run to South Miami or Coral Gables to do their banking. SOUTH MIAMI COUNCIL — Santa, could you do your best to see that this body gets more cooperation from Metro, including the Metro sanction to square off its boundaries and annex areas to the west of the city limits? SOUTHWEST AND PALMETTO High School football teams — Santa, I know it's a little bit early to be thinking about next year's football teams, but could you send some beefier linemen and speedier backs to put these two teams in contention for the southern division of the Gold Coast Conference. WEST AND SOUTH Dade Motorists — Santa, one of the most urgently needed items is an east-west expressway to make driving to Miami easier. If this expressway isn't possible, could you look into the four-laning of Coral Way? WESTCHESTER, SUNILAND AND Cutler Ridge Shopping Centers — more customers. WEST AND SOUTH Dade Residents — indoor theaters and public swimming pools. There are plenty of drive-in threaters and private pools, but none of what we need. We also need a cheaper, safer and more practical way to knock out chinch bugs. WESTBROOKE COUNTRY CLUB soon to open on Tamiami Trail near Galloway Road — more memberships and a gala opening in the near future. WEST DADE TEENAGERS — a new high school between Coral Way and Tamiami Trail to relieve pressure on Southwest High School. DADE COUNTY ROAD PATROL — fewer slow pokes on the Palmetto Expressway and a closer observance of county speed limits. INCORPORATION - HUNGARY WEST DADERS — more signatures on their numerous petitions to be taken before the Metro Commission. ZAYRE DEPARTMENT Store — more customers. SOUTH MIAMI COUNCIL — a more suitable location for the city's municipal garag and car pool. The city has been searching for years for another location for the garage. It nearly found one this year — almost. TROPICAL PARK RACE TRACK — more bettors and a bigger season take than ever before.
