1 Boy + 10 Girls = Hard Work

One boy cast alone among 10 girls might sound like a teenage idea of heaven, but for young Howard Rosenfield, 4310 Anderson Rd., it has just been weeks of work. The teener from Coral Gables High had the lone male role — a leading one — on stage in the Junior Repertory T eatre's production of "Cradle Song," which closes today (Thursday) at the Gallery Playhouse. His feminine colleagues are 10 Dominican nuns in the Broadway classic of a baby left in a convent and the changes it brings to the life of the nuns. It is directed by Ester Brezo, art director of the Junior Repertory group. Other leading parts in the production are taken by Maria Rossi, of the University of Miami; Ruth Tyler, Laurette Fijes and Mimi Oberstein, of Coral Gables High; Donna Evans, of Southwest High, and Judy Prewitt, of Ponce Junior High. This was the fourth production by the year-old Junior Repertory Theatre in the last year. Dedicated to giving talented teenagers in this area a chance to develop their skills in the theater — not only in acting but also in stage direction, set design, light and wardrobe the non-profit Junior Repertory Theatre recently celebrated its first anniversary. The senior board of officers is headed by D. E. Matturo, 11401 SW 68th Ct., who labors by day in the role of Latin American Division Attorney for Pan American World Airways. Other senior officers include Mrs. Ann Prewitt, 768 Alhambra Cir., vice president; Mrs. Louis Lotterman, treasurer; Mrs. T. R. Anderson, 1410 Robbie, recording secretary; and Mrs. Marguerite Evans, 9881 SW 68th St.; corresponding secretary. Among those who have taken an active role in counseling the juniors in the current production are Mrs. George L. Giles, 6210 San Vicente; Mrs. Howard A. Tyler, 3250 SW 58th Ct.; and Mrs. Marguerite Swift, 6290 SW 38th St.
