MRS. WAYNE THONEN

The Thonens Honeymoon with Cruise to Nassau

On a wedding trip cruise to Nassau are Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Roger Thonen whose wedding took place Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Miami. The bride is the former Miss Ruth Ellen Ballantyne, daughter of H. Earl Ballantyne, 2525 SW 64th Ave., and the late Louise A. Ballantyne. The groom is the son of Ellwood K. Thonen of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio who attended the wedding and the late Mary Genevieve Thonen. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a bouffant white gown of nylon tulle and princess lace designed with fitted bodice, sweetheart neckline and long point-at-hand sleeves. The full skirt ended in a long train in the back and the four-tiered illusion veil fell from an orange blossom crown. She carried a bouquet of red and white sweetheart roses centered with a white orchid. Mrs. Harold Hogsette was matron of honor, and bridesmaids were Miss Rosmary Lee and Mrs. Victor Maturo. They wore peau de soie gowns of scarlet red made with bracelet length sleeves, matching red net headpieces and carried red carnations. Virginia Lee Simpson, flower girl, wore a white frock with scarlet bow and carried a basket of sweetheart rosebuds. Larry Leonard Simpson was ring bearer. Ushers were Jim Terry, Allison Donn, Vick Toland and Harold Hogsette. Dr. Henry Dahlberg Jr. officiated at the double ring candlefight ceremony. Paul Marino was soloist and Miss Janet Dickey was organist. Both the bride and groom are members of the choir. Out-of-town guests included the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Edna Bedillion, of Cuyahoga Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Hamburg, aunt and uncle of the bride of Elizabeth, N.J. An interesting highlight concerns the bride's engagement ring, a diamond solitaire worn by the groom's mother, and the gold wedding band set in diamonds which had been her wrist watch band. The bride was graduated from Coral Gables High School where she played the clarinet in the school band. She was also a member of the mixed chorus at Gables High. The groom is a graduate of the College of Wooster, Wooster Ohio, and is employed as an insurance adjuster for Crawford and Co. The bride is a bookkeeper for the A. M. Kidder & Co. Inc., of Coral Gables. The couple will reside in their new recently purchased home at 7730 SW 98th Ct., Miami.
