St. Simon's Youths Met In Pompano

By CARRIE O'MALLEY Correspondent Pompano was host to the youth group of St. Simon's Episcopal Church, Sunday. The EYC met the newly elected Bishops of the Episcopal Church who are visiting in Pompano. President of the EYC is Russ Flannery, 8131 SW 11th St. Working under Russ are Perry Turner, 8980 SW 41st St.-Ter., vice president; Marge Safrit, 7111 SW 83rd Ct., secretary; and Sandy Duncan, 4550 SW 104th Ave., treasurer.

"Happy Birthday" will be the tune heard 'round the King's Bay Yacht Club today (Thursday). At noon a second birthday celebration will be in the swing for the South Miami Hospital Women's Auxiliary which is the volunteer workers at the hospital.

"Christianity vs. Communism" was the topic of a new study at the Kendall Methodist Church, which began Tuesday. Richard P. Heath, 8265 SW 97th St., is in charge of the program while the Commission on Christian Social Concerns is sponsoring the discussion.

The oldest and youngest sweetheart couple at the First Baptist Church of Westwood Lake were honored Sunday at services. The congregation celebrated "Heart Sunday," the Sunday on which everyone, old and young, puts their whole heart into Sunday School and church services.

A special treat is in store for teenage girls at the Kendall Home. The girls between 14 and 16 years, are to be taught the fundamentals of making their own clothes by the Coco Plum Womens Club. The "new seamstresses" will model their creations at a fashion show scheduled for sometime in April.

Sam Karson Is Elected

Sam Karson, PhD, 8765 SW 62nd Ct., has been elected president of the Dade County Psychological Association for 1962. Other officers are David Markinsohn, PhD, secretary-treasurer; Irving Lesser, PhD, membership; Louis J. Maradie, PhD, of 711 Malaga Ave., publicity. William P. Albaugh, PhD, 6235 SW 116th St., ethics; and Syvil Marquit, PhD, of NE 129th St., professional relations.
