CHRISTMAS came to the Riviera Country Club in a big way last week—in fact in the biggest way possible. Santa rode in on a pachyderm to the astonishment and amusement of the children who enjoyed a real, live circus set up on the grounds for them.

A MORE CONVENTIONAL SANTA, but one who was just as welcome, also visited the Coral Gables Country Club where he distributed gifts and hearty greetings to the children there. Photos by Marty Aronow.

News Of The PTA Christmas Programs Have Varied Themes

By EUNICE TALL All types of Christmas programs are being enjoyed at this holiday season of the year in area schools. The South Miami Elementary School Christmas program was presented Tuesday night in the school cafetorium. The program was centered around the theme of "Christmas in America." Songs were sung by the students and several original poems written by pupils were read. Mrs. Gene Wheeler, third grade teacher, was director of the program. Southwest High School A Christmas concert, sponsored by the Southwest High School Parent Teacher Student Association, was presented by the school band and chorus Tuesday in the auditorium. The audience participated in singing all types of Christmas songs later in the evening. Mr. Marvin Mockabee, band instructor, and Mrs. Margaret de Sola, music instructor, directed the program.

Van Wunderlich Is LOOM President

Van Wunderlich was recently elected president of the Light Opera of Miami and automatically becomes a member of LOOM's Board of Directors. Other officers elected are Olin Fisher, vice president; Chris Bronzino, secretary; and Shelly Mark, treasurer. The election of officers took place at a combined business and social meeting of the Wool and Yarn Club, composed of cast members of the opera.

Samuel K. McKee, 7900 SW 74th Pl., a 23-year veteran of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has been appointed director of the investigative division of The Wackenhut Corp., national security and investigative organization of Coral Gables, George R. Wackenhut, president has announced.

Leo Ackerman Named Cancer Institute Head
