Panhellenic Adopts Two War Children

Soon Bong of Korea and Sotiria Siamantoura of Greece belong to different hemispheres, but they share an important relative, a foster parent. The foster parent for these girls is the Panhellenic Council of the University of Miami. The adoption is financial, not legal. The Council contributes monthly to the support of the girls. The two girls also share a similar background. Sotiria lives with her widowed mother and half-sister in a small Greek village. Her father was killed during the Rebel War in Greece which followed World War II. She is 14. Soon Bong is one of six fatherless children. She has graduated from secondary school at the top of her class. She is 17. Sotiria is also in school and intends to become a history teacher. Their "adoption" was made possible by the 13 national sororities which comprise the Panhellenic Council and the Foster Parent's Plan, Inc.
