THE GRANDEUR THAT WAS ROME will spring back to life in Coral Gables Saturday. Members of the Coral Gables Country Club are having "Una Festa de Romana" (A Roman Holiday). To recapture those days, the women will wear flowing white gowns and the men will don togas and sandals. Framed within two posts of a railing at the Roman-style entrance to Country Club Prado in the gowns they will wear are, left to right, Mrs. George Knight, 4500 Ingraham Hwy., and Mrs. John A. Fitzsimmons, 1810 SW 89th Pl. Terry Campbell is chairman of the party with Barbara Binns as co-chairman. Leonard Neuman did the art work that will lend a Roman atmosphere to the affair.
Mid-Winter Fare Is Rare, Exotic Food
Mrs. John Norman, 4920 Santa Maria St., will be the hostess today for the mid-winter luncheon of the Gourmet-Tasters-Rocking Chair Travelers Club made up of members of the Miami Woman's Club and instituted as a new club project last October. Purpose of the club is to maintain the good will of neighboring countries using the club's announced theme "Hold Fast to Heritage", emphasizing the traditional friendship with South American countries. Italian Dish Mrs. Allan Frisbee, 1641 Onaway Dr., Coconut Grove, club president, and Mrs. Emerson M. Keeler will prepare lasagna, an Italian dish, for this luncheon. Mrs. Dudley M. Cathon is director of the GT&RCT club with Mrs. Mary Z. Weisbuek, chairman of travel, and Mrs. Cecil Sledd, chairman of food. Each month different members of this club hold forth with a luncheon in their homes. Best Of All On April 4, this group will prepare the grand final lunch-eon, choosing the best of the luncheons and will entertain members of the Miami Woman's Club and their guests with an "International Smorgasbord." The luncheons have represented the following countries: Mexico and South America; Hawaiian and Oriental; United States and Canadian Provines, and the last, the mid-winter luncheon mentioned above.
Beta Sigma Phi Meets In Perrine
Zeta Phi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Jan. 11 at the Coral Gables Federal Savings and Loan Association in Perrine. A program on "The Body Beautiful" was presented by Mrs. Ed Benjamin and Mrs. Ted Sharp. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Jack Burney and Mrs. Ed Benjamin. The next meeting of the chapter will be held on Jan. 25 at the Coral Gables Federal Savings and Loan Association in Perrine.

Antique Show Coming
The 20th annual antique show and sale will be held in Miami Bayfront Park Auditorium on Feb. 9, 10, 11 and 12, according to Mrs. Ethel Mae Boedy of Cleveland, general manager of the show. An added attraction on Saturday, Feb. 11, is the Colonial tea sponsored by the Zonta club of Miami to benefit is project, recording for the blind.
Perrine Club Will Serve Spaghetti Today
The Perrine Woman's Club will hold its annual spaghetti supper at 5 p.m. today at the Perrine Community House, with Mrs. George Pedersen, who is famous for her homemade spaghetti sauce, the chairman. The club will also sponsor a 2 p.m. card party at the Community House Tuesday, Jan. 31. The Perrine Kindergarten, also sponsored by the clubwomen and held in the Youth Center building, resumed classes the first week in January. The school is located on a five acre tract on a dead-end street which makes a safe playground for the 5-year-old children who attend. Mrs. J. H. Haizlip Sr. and Mrs. Melvin Ward are the teachers.
Wedding Plans For Summer Are Announced
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth E. Benson, 1302 Asturia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Anita Joan, to Wade Philip Young Jr., son of Dr. and Mrs. Wade P. Young, 714 Catalonia Ave. A late summer wedding is planned by the couple. The bride-elect is a senior at Coral Gables High School, a candidate for graduation in June. Her fiance is a graduate of the University of Miami with a degree in engineering. He was a member of Sigma Chi social fraternity. He is with Eastern Air Lines.
Landscape Design Is Club Program
The Southwest Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 8 P.M., Jan. 19, at the home of Mrs. Estelle Miller, 8731 SW 41 St. Mr. Louis Daigle, assistant Dade County Agent, will be guest speaker. Mr. Daigle will also show slides on landscape design.
