Sprays Cars, Closes Windows, Is Knocked Out

A 19-yera-old Coral Gables youth was rendered unconscious Friday night by toxic fumes from a silicon spray he was using inside a car. Ivan Morales Jr., 1100 Valencia, was given emergency treatment by Coral Gables firemen and rushed to Doctors' Hospital after his mother found him unconscious in the car at approximately 6 p.m. The youth had been spraying the car's seat covers with the toxic silicon solution when it began to rain, according to Coral Gables police. He got inside the car to take cover from the rain and rolled up the windows. The fumes apparently knocked him out. He was released after treatment at Doctors'.

School Burglars Get Ten Cents

J. R. E. Lee Negro Elementary School, 6135 SW 66th St., was broken into last weekend. But the culprits escaped with only 10 cents. According to South Miami Police investigator Thom Ford, juveniles are suspected of the breakin. Entry was made through the custodian's room by opening a partially opened window. The intruders then went to the second floor teacher's rest room where the door was forced open by cutting the door and knob to pieces. Inside the room the Coca Cola machine was forced open and 10 cents removed.

Rotary Club Changes Meeting Site

South Miami Rotary Club, one of the fastest growing Roy units in the area, has changed its meeting site to allow its members more elbow room. According to a club spokesman, the club has moved its 12:15 p.m. Tuesday meeting site from Sherrard's Dixie Belle Inn, 12125 So. Dixie Hwy., to Suniland Shopping Center Hall, a two-story meeting site on the southern end of Suniland Shopping Center. Organized In 1950 Since the club was organized in 1950 with 25 members it has met at Dixie Belle Inn. "But we're just getting too big now to use Dixie Belle Inn," the club member said. The unit now has some 60 members and weekly accomodates about 25 guests. The Suniland hall accomodates about twice as many people as the Dixie Belle location. Rumors that the South Miami Kiwanis Club, which also uses the Dixie Belle site also was moving farther south to the Suniland location were squelched this week by newly installed president Ed Grout. 'News To Me' "It's news to me," Grout said. "We're very satisfied with the Dixie Belle Inn meeting hall. You'll always find some that complain about the food, but as a whole we've been pretty well treated at Dixie Belle Inn." But Grout added that before the year was over his club may set its eyes on the larger Suniland hall because of club growth.
