How long will Ponce crane remain?
Neighbors who have fearfully looked up at the towering construction crane at 911 E. Ponce de Leon for months may learn how much longer it will remain at a public hearing Tuesday, May 11 at 10:30 a.m. The public hearing, part of this week's Coral Gables Commission meeting, will concern construction progress at the unfinished building. Other items on the agenda are: • Consideration of a zoning change to permit a car transmission repair shop at 370 S. Dixie Hwy. • Authorization for the city to lease Coliseum Park, near Merrick School, from the School Board for payment of half the maintenance costs. • A resolution supporting Fort Lauderdale in efforts to get federal money to fight lethal yellow palm blight. • Designation of a commissioner as an ex-officio member of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. • A resolution honoring Charles Axman, retired assistant purchasing director. • Certificates of appreciation to Louis Bryant, Willie Newton and Clyde Miller for their efforts to prevent a daylight robbery of a home on their city sanitation truck route.
