Former T/G news editor now lives, paints in Bahamas

It's not that Mal Flanders didn't enjoy newspaper work. But when you feel you're developing an ulcer at age 41, you start thinking about changing your lifestyle. Flanders, former news editor of The Times-Guide and Keynoter newspapers, has found that new lifestyle at Tarpum Bay or Eleuthera in the Bahamas. He and his wife, Kay have both returned to careers in art, painting Bahamian people and scenery.

Service news Coast Guard Aviation machinist's mate First Class Robert C. Crowder, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Crowder, 18868 SW 83rd Ct., has been promoted to his present rank while serving at the Coast Guard Air Station in Opa-locka. And Christopher Columbus High graduate Carlos M. Parreno, 21, has graduated from Navy recruit training. Parreno, son of Mrs. Maria C. Vidal of 8355 SW 56th St., joined the service in April.

Realtor moves

John Dinda, a Coral Gables Realtor and appraiser, has joined Pyms-Suchman Real Estate Co. He will specialize in commercial properties and has been active in real estate for 16 years. Len Holloway, chairman of the Education Committee of the Coral Gables Board of Realtors, has just returned from Washington, D.C. where he attended a real estate workshop on training sales associates.

Student news

Laura Francis Witt, 3519 Alhambra Circle in Coral Gables has made the Dean's List at Indiana University in Bloomington. Coral Gables residents Arthur Weiland Hutson and James Cullen Cain will be awarded degrees from Auburn University in Alabama this summer.
